No, I mean the action figure aspect with their stiff ill-fitting textile clothes, probably more obvious in the pics I didn't post. Ah well...

MATOHU

The beauty of repurposed everyday objects: tablecloths, curtains, fishing nets...

This is the sense of beauty known as mitate. The beauty of mitate consists of taking something that is very common and easily ovelooked and using it in a complete different way. This creates fresh value. Of course, the object itself has not changed. When the tool is presented to us in an unexpected role, we become aware of a new beauty that we were unaware of before.

What probably makes mitate interesting is that the object is actually used. One's expectations are gently betrayed, and there is a pleasurable sense of surprise. Mitate is one kind of serious play, where the excitement generated by consciously breaking the rules makes the object more attractive.

But that is not all. Above all, what takes place here is that the object is, in effect, resurrected and endowed with completely new life. For the "Japanese Eye," which believes that even objects and tools have an inner spirit, such an approach is perhaps quite natural."

I'm not feeling it as much as the previous Matohu collections but their stuff is always beautiful nonetheless.

I don't think I've ever posted Fall 2012 actually...
