I haven't had too many chances to wear my double monks since I received them so tried to see how I'd like them with denim today. Not really feeling it with denim, but still really love these shoes

Shoes look great. Mind elaborating on your denim+double monk feelings?

Thanks for posting the pic. They look great with denim from that angle.

Can't really explain. In the picture it looks fine, but while wearing them out today it just felt "off".

I think either suede or a single monk would work a lot better

I can understand this. These shoes look quite dressy brand new whereas denims are casual, of course. But I think they will work perfectly with denim once they are worn in/creased/scuffed up a bit with normal wear.

Party tonight at my wife's workplace in NYC.

The Kamakura collar is wonderful but I suggest paying more attention than I did after tightening your tie.

It went back to its majestic self once I loosened up later on.

Got my Andrew Lock double monks today. I wear 9.5US in the Allen Edmond 5-last and the 8EU/9.5US Andrew Lock monks fit perfectly. The Andrew Locks are slightly wider than the AE 9.5D, probably more like a 9.5E. They are a beautiful medium-dark brown color with a hint of burgundy. I especially like that they come with Dainite-like rubber half-soles, which means I can wear them in foul weather, although I am worried a bit that the leather half-soles will get water damage. I will probably ask my cobbler cover the leather part with rubber.

Don't cover the leather part with rubber. the leather half soles will be fine.

What he said. The leather is for decoration and support but the rubber extends the full length of the shoe. I wore mine all winter with no ill effects. Enjoy!

Are all the bench grade shoes made on the same last?

Wow, I did not notice that the rubber extends under that piece of leather. Nice touch! I highly recommend these double monks. Perfect for dress/casual/travel/summer/winter/you name it!

Nope. Each style is on a different last.
