I have spent the last fifteen years wearing a Tag 4000 series stainless face / stainless body watch that I like, but now consider a sports-watch. I would like something more elegant for work. My first impulse is vintage Rolex, but I really don't feel like I know exactly what I want yet and don't want to spend vintage-Rolex-money on something that I may not love. In the meantime, I would like something with no gold, with a leather band, with as little ornamentation as possible without being military, and yet, elegant. Vintage Omega? Longines? Mickey Mouse? Any wisdom appreciated.

Christopher Ward make some nice dress watches for under $2,000.

Both that Hamilton and the Christopher Ward are very appealing. I'm impressed that you gents of Styleforum picked up on the aesthetic I was describing so quickly.
