Taylor Stitch - Official Affiliate Thread

Welcome aboard, guys. I've seen some of your stuff online before, but I haven't tried anything for myself yet. I do like your offerings though and hope to try some of the shirts at least. If I am generally a size small in shirts for most brands (Gitman, Epaulet, Gant Rugger, Brooklyn Tailors, Black Fleece, Brooks Brothers, etc.), but a medium in tighter fitting brands like Band of Outsiders and Spurr would you suggest a 36 or a 38 in your shirts?

Any chance I could get shoulder to shoulder measurements for both a 36 and 38?

I have yet to try EP, but TS fits much slimmer then J Crew.

For reference I'm 6'6", 215lbs and wear a 44L suit jacket. I have been buying the XL/44 in Tailor Stitch and they fit me well enough. Only thing I would change is make the sleeves a little longer.

Love TS, just purchased the midnight italian chambray. It is my first shirt from you guys so I hope the fit is good, but I am sure it will be. Love the cone selvage canvas jeans i picked up a few weeks ago.

Y'all are great - answering questions for me. I would like to add a little clarification and insight to our manufacturing and product release cycle:

We here in San Francisco are still blessed to have a somewhat vibrant garment district still alive. It is nothing compared to what it used to be (during the tech boom in the 90's, all the sew shops got booted from the factories because tech companies and loft developers sent the square foot prices of commercial property through the roof) but there are still 20 sew shops going strong.

I work with a small factory called Fashion Apparel. It is a family owned business that owns the building it operates out of, and has been sewing there for the last 44 years. There is one cutter and 12 seamstresses and 2 quality control ladies that handle all of our production.

Being that the factory is two miles from our office, we have a lot of control over production. So much so, that once fabric arrives, I can turn a new style around in about one week. Because we have these capabilities, we push ourselves quite hard to release 5 new styles of shirts every week. We usually do about 30-40 units in each color way (6-7 units in our most popular sizes - 38, 40, 42).

Since things are selling out in a day or two in our popular sizes, we are going to start in increase the size of our runs to about 60 shirts in each color way of each release.

I will give you a heads up - next week we are releasing a collection of khadi shirts. Khadi is an incredibly soft and lightweight hand loomed Indian cotton. The stuff is downright incredible - in terms of heat of the summer wear, it puts linnen to shame. Moreover, the price per yard of Khadi is significantly more than we we are usually willing to spend, but this stuff is so incredible, we could not pass on the opportunity.

I will post some pictures of the shirts on the forum later this week.

As always, ask any questions about materials, fabrics and construction that you might have. I am very proud of what we do and how we do it and want to make the manufacturing and design process as transparent as possible.

I wish you guys the best of luck...I was bumbed when the navy mechanic shirt sold out last night so I when i saw the chambray today I couldn't pass it up.

That Chambray was the most badass dress shirt we have ever made. I wish there was more of that fabric left, because I would buy all that is left in the world.

I am 6'3 w/ medium build and shoot for 22" P2P.
For comparison, I wear a 42 in TS, XL in Epaulet, and medium in J. Crew (but arms are typically too short).
Measured, TS's 42 size is about 23" P2P but the cut is pretty tapered... it feels slimmer than that measurement suggests. I would not want to go any smaller.
TS's cut is quite flattering to the slim to average built fellow!!

Hmm so if I wear a BoO 3, you think I would be a M or L in Taylor Stitch?

TS shirts don't come in a M or L but sizes from 36-46. See chart above. I think the rep posted in the J crew and Epaulet charts below his so that may be confusing.

I don't get the sizing chart...is that in inches? measurements seem huge.

I'm pretty concerned when I read "high armhole" plus no shoulder measurement.

The 36 chest measurement looks ok for me for a slim fit while the 38 looks big. I'm a S in Gitman for comparison. But, with the high armhole, it's pretty hard to judge without trying.

thanks for the insight...i just ordered a 44 of the blue linen..mainly because there was no 42...gonna give it a shot...i probably be swimming in it.

i am 5'10 180 ish...total disporptionate body as my upper body mainly my arms are huge..and tapers down to skinny ass non growing chicken legs..

Measure your chest in inches, buy the shirt in that size. That was the process in the store, and the fit was spot on.
I'm 6'1" 180 lbs and the 42 works well.

i'm generally an xs, probably around a 36" chest, but why does the shirt measure 40" in the chest for an xs? someone halp.
