Oxxford question

I don't know of any decent suit maker that makes trousers that are finished when you buy them, and certainly not Oxxford. Also, note the finished sleeves on this jacket; Oxxford generally does not finish the sleeves on their garments. These look like working button holes, so this garment was finished for a customer. If they are working button holes, make sure the sleeve length is just about correct for you as-is, since significant changes are problematic.

I didn't think so either. But I saw a lot of finished trousers in stores in Germany. Wierd.

Nice suit, but I find the $3,700 retail tag price a little hard to swallow.

Don't fret over it too much; I wouldn't have gotten it. The lapels are too funky.

Don't mind about the lapel, it still looks fine. The cut and the fabrics, however, are exactly my taste and the pants are unpleated too, again, my preference.

It was probably finished for a customer and then never picked up or it was returned. I see that sort of thing all the time at outlet stores - suits or jackets that have had the sleeves and pants finished but which were obviously never worn. And seriously FCS, don't bemoan that Oxxford suit - I wasn't joking when I said it was 40 years old.

The lapels remind me of something Maxwell Smart would have worn, which says something about how dated it looks. Probably weighs a ton...

If you guys say so, that's quite comforting. I was just rather excited to see an Oxxford suit selling for low $200s. Anyways, how do you tell that it's something like 40 years old? Is it really about the style or rather by the looks of the garment? It looks to me that the style is rather contemporary rather than outdated, but again I still have to learn heaps about clothings.
