Yes, although if I had to identify a precondition, it is honesty of material expression. Because we generally derive no sense of beauty from the inherent qualities of plastic and other artificial materials we use to make architecture, people try to make them look like things they aren't in order to have their cake and eat it too. In some circumstances, an interior of artificial materials with limited lifespans could be enjoyable, so it's not exclusive to natural things entirely, but it nearly always is.
