RLBL - Installing Working Buttonholes

Sure he wasn't just trying to sell you working buttonholes? I can't fathom how any suit could be more or less "constructed with working button holes in mind."


It is possible for a coat to not be constructed with working button-holes in mind. I have seen coats where there is no split in the end of the sleeve lining, it is just carries to the end of the sleeve and sewn all around.

Of course, I've only seen this on very cheap coats.

Edit: It seems this has already been mentioned. I really should read the whole thread before replying...

The button hole is a decoration on the jacket, so it has to be beautiful or it will ruin the jacket. It can either be hand made or machine made. Just ask the tailor to show you his work before you make the decision to have the working button holes added to your jacket. These are hand made
button holes. If you decide to change the buttons make sure they are horn buttons. They will add extra value to your jacket.
