Which Engine Turned Belt Buckle

Thread Starter

So I'm looking to get a silver engine turned belt buckle. Trying to determine between spending $200+ on a sterling silver or getting a silver plated over brass for $55. Anyone have experience with both. Benefits of the SS?

http://www.tiffany.com/ $225

http://www.ralphlauren.com/  $195

http://www.trafalgarstore.com $55

Thanks in advance!

There are significant differences. Some manufacturers like RL appear to be cutting corners to reduce the amount of metal i.e. silver in their buckles. See here.

I have recent experience of the RL and Tiffany buckles having made straps for both of them and the Tiffanies buckles are far, far better quality. Given the price difference I wouldn't hesitate to go Tiffanies. No experience of Trafalgar but I suspect the price tells a story given the price of silver at the moment.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. Guess I'm going to get a Tiffany buckle

I had a RL buckle and got a strap at BB - both on sale - and wound up passing them along on B&S.

The buckle was very lightweight - no heft to it at all - and didn't really clamp well. I think Tiffany's is the call...
