Fellas, I'm getting ready to purchase a protein powder, and am needing some suggestions on good brands. Also what exactly is a whey protein? What's the difference?

There are different types of protein sources: Whey, soy, vegetable, meat, egg, etc. Whey is one of the most pure and most easily digestible by the human body. So, make sure that is the source that your protein comes from. My favorite for taste and absorbtion (and mixing) purposes is Designer Whey. You may also want to check out Ultimate Whey (more for your $$), or EAS' protein (expensive, but high quality). If you are heading to GNC or some other health food store, ask them which high protein source is on-sale (sometimes they have 2 for 1). Most importantly: check out the label see: 1. How much grams of protein a serving gives 2. What the serving size is (5 scoops is obviously worse than 1 scoop) 3. Fat content 4. Saturate fat content 5. Flavor

I use Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey, It's got 22g per scoop. I mix 2 scoops with water for a quick protein source. The choclate is pretty good, as far protein goes. The strawberry mixes better though. I buy most of my supplements from . You can buy a 10lb bag for $48 which I find a great value.
