ESPN's EURO12 commercial.

Love this song in the first place, but think it's really well done overall.

Legitimate question now, based on viewing that trailer again:

From where originate some of the euro-selection's colors? There are some obvious ones, usually based on the nation's flag, but what about Italy or Holland? Red, white, green of Italy = Azzurri, and Red, white, blue = Oranje? My guess on the Dutch is William of Orange, but Italy's history?

Also, why is that checkered pattern distinctly Croat?

Holland, its the color of the royal family, House of Oranje-Nassau

For Italy, I think it was the color of the crest of the pre WW2 Italian flag. I think it has something to do with a ruling family.

For Croatia its a coat of arms, dont know the history....

So happy ESPN has American coverage for Euro 2012, FSC's lockdown of Champions League coverage was a pain. Group D will be fun to watch, mostly because there's not much between them all

I will love to see Michael Ballack analyze those games with Steve McManaman and Alexi Lalas.

Disappointing lack of Ireland in that trailer.

Weird that Nasri was the French representative in that, given that there are far more proven players on that squad (also fun that searching Samir Nasri on Google results in Real Madrid Tickets ads)

And something I've always wondered, what's with Cech's bonnet?
