I saw the last 30 min or so of this. US looked awful. Apparently they dominated other parts of the match, but I was really astounded at how clueless the US were. They couldn't keep possession or complete more than a few passes between them. They had no attacking threat.

Jamaica should have scored around the 75 min mark when one of their players was unmarked but missed a header in front of the gaping US goal. Howard f-bombed his defenders for that lapse, which the broadcast audio picked up.

Saw that. Heard that.

USA was dismal in the last 30-35 minutes, after picking up their one goal. But they were absolutely gorgeous throughout the first half - something like 79-21% possession. Don't like Jones. Do like Williams. Cherundolo and Zusi were a fantastic combo up the right side.

you should watch the canada/panama highlights, it will make you feel much better. the guys were not even getting corners consistently into the box. uhoh.gif I have honestly seen local U-18 teams play better. Really hope the growth of MLS continues and turns N.A. into contention teams.

Not sure MLS play will increase the quality of the Canadian team. They really need to get more folks into Europe to step up the quality of play similar to what the States are doing. The three top flight clubs are middling at best and my hometown club would have been relegated every season save one if it was in a proper league.

Can't see Canada progressing now.

I only saw the headline on the BBC but it said, "Hodgson buoyed by England display." So I mistakenly opened the article thinking something positive happened.

The U.S. really came out with a purpose in the first half. They had 3 off the post, and the Jamaican keeper made a couple of quick reaction saves which easily could've gone in. Second half was terrible as you guys pointed out, but Jamaica didn't do much with it. There's only one point which I can remember where I thought Jamaica was going to score, and that was when someone for them (Shelton possibly) had a defender trailing him with no one ahead. He got off a hard shot, but it sailed way high. I can't stand Taylor Twellman. He seems so combative in the booth as if Ian Darke is calling for one company and Twellman for another. Darke does a nice job of rolling with it.

Fifa 13 seems solid so far. Kinda similar to 12, a little more refind, no LT+RT bugging (at least not to the extent possible in F12). Looking forward to playing with you guys on PC/PS3, if anyone will actually get the game.

Been a FIFA fan since '08, but the PES demos this summer have swayed me. May have to buy both, but haven't been able to download the Fifa13 demo yet.

I completely agree with you that the EU is the ideal level. That said, the growth of the MLS gives young players something local to aspire to, which may be a more realistic dream for them. I suppose in my mind it provides a previously vacant framework for national improvement both in Canada and The US, especially if it continues to grow.

You should, you should. It's like Fifa 12, just more refined and more realistic. Maybe I'll let you win once. tongue.gif

Just read this tonight:
Quote:
NEW YORK -- DirecTV is dropping GolTV on Thursday after the network's loss of rights to Spain's La Liga.

GolTV had held La Liga rights since the 2004-5 season, when it took over from Fox. It sublicensed some games to ESPN Deportes and ESPN3.com.

DirecTV last month started broadcasting beIN Sport, the Al Jazeera-owned network that has bought U.S. rights to La Liga, Italy's Serie A and France's Ligue 1.

GolTV still has rights to Germany's Bundesliga and the U.S. Open Cup final.

"As a result of DirecTV's new relationship with the Emir of the State of Qatar and founder of Al Jazeera, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, DirecTV intends to remove GolTV from its Sports Pack effective Sept. 13,"GolTV said in a statement.

Meh. All they did was replace GolTV with beIN sport or whatever. Pretty much no change for me except the logo, actually, beIN sport looks a little more polished if anything.

I wasn't aware whether DirecTV had picked up beIN yet. No big loss then.

EDIT:

Now I remember why I was upset. GolTV subleased games to ESPN3 - at least one Barça or RM game a week. Now that GolTV has lost that contract, ESPN3 doesn't have anything more than MLS and EPL games of the week.
