Yes, replace Ireland with France, Lancashire and London with Africa and players not quite good enough for their own country with players too good for their own country and wanting to win trophies.

any caught this on bbc ? just starting to watch. probably hypersensationalism but i'm sure there's some degree of truth to it.

Euro 2012: Stadiums of Hate

With just days to go before the kick-off of the Euro 2012 championships, Panorama reveals shocking new evidence of racist violence and anti-semitism at the heart of Polish and Ukrainian football and asks whether tournament organiser UEFA should have chosen both nations to host the prestigious event.

Reporter Chris Rogers witnesses a group of Asian fans being attacked on the terraces of a Ukrainian premier league match and hears anti-Semitic chanting at games in Poland. And with exclusive access to a far right group in Ukraine which recruits and trains football hooligans to attack foreigners, Panorama asks: how safe will travelling football teams and their supporters be at this summer's European festival of football?

Poland and Ukraine's problems with hooliganism and racism sound very similar to stories of the 70s and 80s in English football and yet we were still allowed to host Euro 96 even with the threat of the IRA. If it were that bad they would ban or warn away fans from going to club matches in those countries or there would be fans killed there but none of that happens.
Not that UEFA give a fuck about anything like that even if it does happen, see Istanbul being awarded the 2005 European Cup final the day after announcing an inquiry into the deaths of Chris and Kev.

Doubt anything major will happen except possibly when Poland and Czech Rep play Russia although no doubt some English hoolies looking for a fight will get one.

Personally I'd be surprised too if anything major happens. And if it did, I think FIFA may take a good, hard look at WC2018 in Russia. Even bribe money may not be enough to protect interests there if something huge goes down.

I'm not sure I'll ever understand anti-semitism in Eastern Europe. I mean, that whole region was decimated because of how Jewish it was in during WWII (or at least that's how history seems to portray it now). And now? I can understand it against minorities that "look" different, due to skin color, or drastic features (asian/caucasian/latin/etc.), but still think it's foolish.

I don't think they will travel..

Ukraine is not western Europe where you can start a fight without finishing beaten up in a police cell with a greasy butthole.

Poles and Slovaks are conservative Catholics and the Joos did sell Jesus Christ to the Romans..

Russia ,Ukraine have a long history of pogrums..

People need a scapegoat...

Joos are seen as being part of a finacial elite root of all evil.

They won't look at the Russia World Cup at all, they give out £50,000 fines for racist chanting, they don't give a fuck about that nor do they give a fuck about the fans, they have shown that many times in the past 15-20 years when fans have been killed or injured as a result of violence (unless the violence was started by English fans). The Slavs were also killed albeit in smaller numbers, I found it shocking how many swastikas I saw spray painted on walls when I first went to Poland, I suspect its just an anti Communist thing that they don't think too deeply about.

As for the Jews its only the last 65 years its been socially acceptable to not hate them. Most countries in Europe bear some responsibility for the War.

England has done a lot of work to eradicate racism in the game even if it's still present as seen in the Evra/Suarez, Terry/Ferdinand stories..

The behaviour of Liverpool supporters was disgraceful but when passion is involved ,rational thinking is going out the window..

Racism is irrational..

How can you insult the opponent's black players when you cheer your own ?

Russia has a far right problem because people tend to accuse others of their own shortcomings..

It is human nature.

I also remember watching in Peckham a Jamaican woman calling a Nigerian man a black C... .

Surreal stuff ..
