Mourinho started him last year, switched to Marcelo. Tried Coentrão again at about 3/4s of the year, and he went straight back to the bench.

Thats a bit misleading, while I didnt see every game, Mourinho also tried him in many spots on the pitch and did make tactical switches between the two.

In addition, I recall FC was injured at some point.

But to some degree I see your point, adapting to a larger league has a physical cost.

Leeds being bought out, seemingly we will be able to blow Man City away in the transfer market if the rumours of Bahrainian royalty are true. Last season before the glory hunters start sniffing if Sheik Rub-a-Dub puts his hand in his pockets.

I believe Chelsea has never returned a profit to its owner ever since the oil money poured into it. Buying a club is a terrible business to get into.

On the subject of all clubs being operated at a loss -

If y'all have never read Simon Kuper's Soccernomics, get on that.

Also, for anyone who follows MLS in a more dedicated fashion than I - why is LA so bad this year? Watching Galaxy/Fire on ESPN and they mentioned they've only had 2 clean sheets this season, sitting last (or near it) in the West.
