Nissan dealer wont let me test drive GT-R? - Page 2

While some of you may hate on the OP, I can sympathize. I can't stand how difficult dealerships make it to test drive a car. If I am going to be spending the next 5 years in this thing, I wanna be intimately familiar with it. That includes matters of ergonomics, performance, cabin noise, space, etc. Some of these things cannot be ascertained properly without spending a decent amount of time in the car. In my opinion, it's really best to borrow a friend's car to figure out what you do and don't like. I wish I could rent some of these cars for a day or two. I think Saturn actually used to let people test drive the car for 24 hrs or something (not that I would ever want a Saturn, and look what happened to the company). But I find it ridiculous that a salesman would that I am ready to buy a car after taking it for a 10 min spin.

FWIW, I have also found that if you have an impressive job title, it's easy to get test drives. However, you still will get hounded by awful salespeople in terrible clothes.

GT-R is a difficult thing because not many people have the car, so it's unlikely that you will have a friend that will let you take it for a spin. Maybe look for a used one on Craigslist or Autotrader. I am sure a private seller would be more accommodating.

i want to see whats the big deal it is and see if i can be convinced to join the rice burner crew cuz right now, its all germany (i wish i could join the italian team but my wallet size doesnt increase in exponential increments like some people)

yah i agree, but a lot of exotic cars they dont let you test drive unless you already have relationship with them... kind of a catch 22, really.
but i guess its like a 'hazing' ritual to join the exclusive few where you gotta dive in blind and let them put in your butt a little

I've faced this before. They're s#!T testing you. Look annoyed. Repeat yourself. Go to another dealer if you fail. It helps to call the dealer before you arrive.

its only 75gs and 480 horsepowers with awd to control it man...
i drove an m6 (110gs new) with 507 with rear wheel drive with the salesman telling me to cane the shit out of it on the free way in P500 sport and m mode... went like 145 with traffic around
thats how you sell a performance car... let the buyer feel what the car can do nod[1].gif

It's not just what you can do to the car (75g), it's also what you can do to the people in the car with you (maim/kill), and the property and/or people you may hit. Your damage and their potential exposure from you driving 145 with traffic around can put a dealership out of business. Just consider that the next time people don't let you get what you want.

dude anyone with a real high performance car has driven beyond triple digits in traffic... you think people just want a 650hp lambo or a 1000hp veyron just going the speedlimit, or driving the texas mile once a year?
no offense, but you obviously have never had anything other than a nissan sentra... and i think even a sentra can break 100mph
all of my friends have easily blew through the 150 barrier by 19 or 20 years old
many kids i know have gone 180+ on public roads and some have gone 200

145 comes so quick in an m6, you are there in about 10 seconds after the car gets rolling

i dont obviously condone breaking any laws or regulations... but reality is reality.. power corrupts and thats part of life.
and i understand that your point is to limit young kids with fast cars... but thats not ever going to happen because thats what young guys like...
fast high performance cars that they can play around in...

you saying dont ever drive fast in a fast car is like saying going to college and dont drink alcohol or have sex...
yeah sure people get hurt from driving accidents... people also die inadvertently/indirectly from drinking too much alcohol or get infected with STDs from having sex.
when people have fun, theres a high possibility of random people getting hurt.
