Brooks Brothers - Made to Measure Vs Off the Rack - Page 2

The suiting essentials line and the 1818 Regent cut suits have double vents.  Double vents are perfectly appropriate for any business setting.

FYI, if you want MTM, a lot of the premium MTM at Brooks is actually made by Martin Greenfield. If you are in NYC, you could buy direct from Greenfield without the markup. Just contact Greenfield directly--if you need a referral in (sometimes they ask who referred you), just PM me.

I am a corporate banker at one of the largest banks in the US.  I see both center and double vents.  The single seems to be more prominent among the older generations (I am 28, so older means 40+).  Since this is the majority of my colleagues and clients, I am generally the only one that wears double vents.  That being said, I live and work in the Southeast.  Double vents are still considered fashion forward here.  Whenever I travel to NYC, it is very common.

Can you please use larger font for your posts.  I recently turned 40 and, as one of "the older generations," well, my eyes aren't what they used to be 12 years ago.

Sorry, I didn't see his response when I posted it.  There seem to be restrictions on how often I could post since I was am a newbie - didn't realize my earlier posts were visible when I submitted the earlier one.

Thanks a lot for all your insights guys, I really appreciate it!

Piggy backing off of this, I wouldn't even consider it unless they were doing one of their MTM events, when you can get up to 20% off (there is one in the spring and one in the fall).  Golden Fleece off the rack is $1600 as is; I assume the MTM customizations will be a premium on top of that.

Hey Gopherblue, how's the mtm BB suits work through Martin Greenfield?

It's not BB MTM, it is Greenfield MTM. So your suit would be a Greenfield suit, not a BB suit.

I think try to find your measurements  and look information about suit makers style and try to find something on BS or ebay. You can get a good quality suit at a cheaper price.

For the life of me, I don't understand why some of you on here keep wanting to push " used " clothes, probably been sweat in and pissed in. They can't do enough cleaning to make me wear used clothes. I don't use anyones comb or toothbrush either, and I like it that way.

Where on earth is anyone suggesting "used" clothes? eBay doesn't necessarily mean "used", and most of the stuff on B&S is NWT or NWOT....

You can do CTRL + with most browsers to make forum text bigger, and CTRL - to make it smaller again.

Is this still the case? Last I'd heard (http://www.styleforum.net/t/271807/psa-brooks-brothers-golden-fleece-suits-recalled/30) there was a rumor about Greenfield's possibly breaking ties with BB, or vice versa, and BB's decision to have Southwick produce its Golden Fleece MTM suits.

I'm not impugning Mr. Greenfield or his work in any way, and regardless of whether he still makes BB suits, he's still probably a better option than BB MTM.

What keys do you hit to flag the posts that are a joke for those unable to discern this on their own?

ALT, CTRL, left SHIFT, TAB, CAPS LOCK, BACK-SPACE, INSERT, ESC, UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW and J, all pressed simultaneously. If you only have one hand, find someone who can help you.
