With all these recent shell purchases, I think I will go from 0% of my shoes being made from shell in 2011 to 33% this year.
I am not sure I agree that you should go down a full size on the 99 last; I think they would be too short then. I am pretty TTS 10.5D and I have the Ramsey in navy crust in 10F that is a bit wide for me. In this Benson version I went down a width to 10E and I think that will be spot on. I have tried a shell Ramsey in 9.5F and that was much too tight. For refernece, I wear a 10D in Barrie and 10.5D in Leydon, Plaza, Hampton, etc.
I will have to respectfully disagree that the balmoral boot is better; very different aesthetic, but balmoral boots can be found elsewhere. I haven't seen anything half as nice as the style and sleekness of the Benson in a single monkstrap from any of the elite makers. At least for me.
Best case scenario would be to have both. Hahaha.
