New Sartorial Cocktail Blog - Page 2

I have found that the juniper and/or botanicals from gin don't play well with the peat from the scotch. Vodka is cleaner and less flavorful, so the scotch really shines through. Especially with the blue cheese stuffed olives (which, unfortunately, are a must for that cocktail).

Thank you Scott Deitche for a great interview:

Your new header is far too big for a blog, imo.

I agree. Trying to figure out how to shrink it.

Code:
<img alt='The Rakish Bon Vivant' height='878px; ' id='Header1_headerimg' src='http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--1yw0cBM8uI/UDuNgAgEn4I/AAAAAAAAAJU/87QcAc-OMKs/s1108/trbv%2Blogo%2Bcolor%2BIII%2Bcopy.jpg' style='display: block' width='933px; '/>
I don't know whether you have access to the source code (never had a blog myself), but play around with the height and width.

I liked your interview overall, but Jeffrey Morgenthaler would get very angry about page number two, line 4-5 (and likely justified so). wink.gif

I figured it out! See if that is better.

LOL - I always prefer the Mint Julip bigstar[1].gif

It's better but I think it somewhat clashes. I think I would prefer a centered logo. Plus I would change the background color or cut the logo out. White is too extreme, imo. Overall there's a little much color going on on the website, but that may be just my personal taste. "sartorial" in "a sartorial guide to cocktails" is barely readable (because it's in front of a light bottle cap). I'd much rather prefer a very clean, uniform look. Again, not sure how to easily change it, but I just wanted to leave some honest feedback.

Regarding JM, that is why:

I appreciate the feedback and will continue to play around.

Unfortunately, I can't center the logo (limitations of a free blog site) and the logo was designed and sent to me by a reader, so I want to thank him for the gesture by using the logo (beggars can't be choosers).

BTW - that video is fantastic (and fitting).

I made a good one the other night...

Been busy travelling. How's life in the Netherlands?

In case you didn't notice, your website is offline.

Pretty nice so far. Unfortunately, liquor is incredibly expensive so I'll have to stock up whenever I return home (and drag the bottles back). However, some wine is cheaper (Villa Antinori for 12,99€ at the supermarket smile.gif). Weather's been great so far. Studies began two weeks ago -- so far, so good, just lots of stuff to learn (Math, Math, Math wink.gif).

Where have you been to?

That is odd. When I look for it, it is still up (www.therakishbonvivant.com). Let me know if you still encounter problems.

Don't let the studies get in the way of your drinking. Try a few cocktails with math - should make it go faster.

Went to Newport Beach, then London, then Stockholm, and Miami. Headed to Singapore in a few weeks for the Grand Prix. Should be fun (I've never been).

Odd indeed. Can't access it from Chrome, Firefox, IE. Moreover, www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com states: It's not just you! http://therakishbonvivant.com looks down from here. (and they always work fine). Someone else from Germany can't access either. Pinging results in "Ping request could not find host www.therakishbonvivant.com [...]". Seems like you have a problem with your hoster.

Nice. Hope you had a good time. And enjoy Singapore.

Ok. Apparently, Anonymous DDOS'ed GoDaddy.com, about the largest domain "administrator" in the US. Their DNS-server rerouting doesn't work anymore for now because of it.Therefore thousands and thousands (millions) of website weren't/aren't accessible. So clever, these kiddies.

What's your website's IP?
