I had a conversation with a "stylist" last night, and, strangely, I think it's relevant to this thread.
Main point: being overly technical and strategic in the way you dress reeks of effort (in a bad way from a females perspective) and says more about your lack of natural style and makes you look ordinary.
I didn't agree fully, but I do agree with at least a portion of what this person was saying. Style, natural style, looks effortless. Sure, proper fit, color matching and textural balance is very important, but, when you get so granular that you are pointing out the smallest of details, you are no longer stylish, you are adhering to a set of rules that are subjective at best, and that often times make you look rather ordinary in the end. I think there is such a thing as being to put together. Aside from gross examples of a bad fit, or ridiculous color/pattern matching,if someone looks cool, they look fucking cool, and it really does not matter that their "gorge" might be 1 millionth of an inch off.
I also respect, foo, I've got to be honest, this outfit may fit perfectly; to me it looks boring. I much prefer the way guys like Spoo/Vox dress.
