It would probably be one of the greatest assets to revive the forum and the credibility issues you seem to be alluding to

Trini started a thread where he posted a bunch of great pics from the old guard. Great stuff from MaoMao, iammatt (or the guy formerly known as him) and a bunch of others. Too busy to do a search right now...

Who are the top 10? Would a bottom 10 be of more benefit? confused.gif

i think a consensus on the top 10 might be hard to get. plus, you would have to know the full history. top 10 right now is not the same as top 10 all time.

off the top of my head, doc holliday would be a good poster to compile that list.

he is well dressed, understands fit and combinations very well, and doesnt come off to me as an extremist to one side or the other of the "what is the best way a person should dress ELEVENTYNINE!!11@@#!11@11##!@1!" dress debate.

While I would not place myself in the "top 10," I do consider myself one of the more experienced posters here. Speaking from that perspective, I can sat that it gets boring posting pictures. What is the benefit? Only 2% of the comments are helpful and you find yourself either ignoring the conversation or spending time teaching people. Not a very appealing way to use one's time.

To me, it's really the dialogue and knowledge that are lacking.

This thread's existence suggests otherwise.

So have we have Italian Business Man above WAYWRN poster.
Can you fill in the hierarchy of whats better or worst than IBM and WAYWRN poster?

I agree. When it comes to looking at static shots from numerous angles in good lighting, with plenty of time to form opinions, very few people here are consistenty very good. And I'm only talking about fit here - something which I don't see as the be all and the end all anyway (mostly because of below).

In everyday interactions, it's often not possible to make finer distinctions. Unless it's truly egregious, an issue of sleeve pitch - or even length; break length; balance; collar gap; even gorge depth etc can be very difficult to spot when you and your quarry are holding drinks at a reception or shaking hands before a meeting, or even simply walking around in daylight. And that's assuming that the points one spots aren't simply opinions (balance/gorge/break can all be divisive points).

I disagree RJE - I guess some things are harder to spot as ill-fitting IRL vs. still photos, but many things are more obviously wrong in person. For instance, when someone starts moving around it's often easier to tell if something is too tight, and collar gaps can sometimes appear when they can be kept at bay for a still photo.

foo, you need to post another fit before this turn into an agonizing smack.gif fest. smile.gif

To me, it's really the dialogue and knowledge that are lacking.

The benefit is to build credibility and provide an example for others. A simple "Here's my fit for today. I was thinking of pairing this tie with this jacket because it brings out x,y,z, and compliments these shoes, etc etc... " ... a few short lines to explain the fit. The thread would need to be moderated so that only the top 10 could post in it, and all others can only add "thumbs up" comments in the reputation blocks
