Will This Brooks Brothers Belt Give Me Cancer

I added this belt to my bag. When I went to checkout I get this warning:

Edit- I am not actually concerned, I just thought it was quite funny.

Prop 65 is such a joke. The law is supposed to protect consumers, but really just allows dirtbag lawyers to file erroneous lawsuits.

 

The suits filed in regard to heavy metals within some cod liver oil supplements a few year back is a great example 

 

The FDA has a part per billion heavy metal level that is acceptable for humans. If you come in below said level (which is tiny), you are not required to list that ingredient on your labels in 51 US states, ASIDE from good ol' California (prop 65). This is because if you come in under the FDA's set level, you are ingesting less PCB's than are found in nature by eating a cooked fish or drinking normal tap water.  In short, the lawyers sued the crap out of many companies that didn't list heavy metals as an active ingredient in their product based on prop 65, even though the PCB in the product was less than what you ingest via nature and many many times smaller than the acceptable/safe PCB level for infants.

I shouldn't paint with such a broad brush though, and I mean no disrespect towards lawyers in general.

Interesting read Dave. I wouldn't be concerned. Cell phones, air, food, water, drinking, drugs (prescribed or not), bad drivers and bad women are probably a lot more dangerous to ones health than this belt would be.

This is the reason why some manufacturers do not sell certain products to addresses in California. Prop 65 is a joke all the way around. From what I've seen pretty much everything causes cancer according to the collective braintrust in CA.

This is the first time I have had a warning from an online retailer. I always see prop 65 signs in B&M stores, but never online.
