this tutorial is for member "SVENN". a year ago when we saw the tutorial about taking in the sides of jackets.
our friend svenn asked a question as how this affected waist suppression.
sorry svenn, that i overlooked this, but better late than never.

previously we all read the tutorial about taking in the sides of a jacket while retaining the style.

the first diagram shows how the waist is supperesst only. the lower area of the hips and the
seat are not changed. 426

the second shows the sides of the jacket taken in, but with the waist also being supperesst.

HI Jeffery, I saw that you took the waist in at the pocket. How do you do that?

its easy as 1-2-3 if you know how to do it.

1 take apart the pocket
2 do the waist alteration
3 remake the pocket.

You are good! Thanks.

I hope this is still being monitored. I've been feeling my way into altering some of my jackets, though I'm a true novice. Some of my projects have been relative successes, some utter failures. I think I understand all the principles expressed here, but I have a very basic question: What's the easiest way into the guts of the jacket? Should one just remove the entire lining, or is there a simpler way to do things, like cutting a small hole, say in the lining, and pulling the jacket "inside out" to expose the seams? The more detail provided in the answer, the less likely I will be to pull all my hair out later.

Thanks very much for the tutorials! They are so helpful!

hi koala

Just open the bottom of the lining where it is sewn to the the hem of the coat.
You can open as much as you need.

good luck Alex

Dont forget to take in the lining too. Just enough to make the lining match the width of the coat at the bottom.
