water with meals can impair the digestive process, like stomach acid effectiveness, and can contribute to acid reflux.

You can die - but just drink a gallon a day and you'll be just fine, and likely much healthier than not drinking a gallon a day. If you're not working out, taking vitamins, or eating a high protein diet, you could shave that gallon down. Be prepared for a lot of bathroom breaks.

Hyponatremia (which basically means low salt levels).

But this happens when you're drinking water by the dozens of pounds. At once.

Too much of anything is bad for you (srs).

Drinking more than about 2L of water per hour, over several hours, can kill you. For what it's worth, that's a damned lot of water to drink.

"Water intoxication" (hyponatremia) is only a serious problem for marathon runners, whose bodies may not be excreting water quickly enough to make up for the water they're drinking feverishly.

that's not a very good source. it would be more than just a few sips of water. if gastric acid is diluted then it won't break down matter as effectively and the body will be forced to pump out more stomach acid. the continuous pumping is what can contribute to acid reflux.

the way i see it is, if you're thirsty, then your body is telling you to drink.  listen to your body.
