Sauna - Page 2

For instance, at one of my last gyms (Worlds Gym, Montrose), it was extremely common for me to enter the lockeroom and see people milling around naked and half-naked, talking. I would go do my workout and over an hour later when I returned, they're still doing this. Standing around naked, chitchatting in various stages of undress. For over a fucking hour, this is unacceptable. I don't have anything against gay people or people who like to talk. But loitering around lockerrooms naked for over an hour is pushing the limit. There's an alterior motive here and they're abusing lockerroom etiquette. There's plenty of coffee shops, bars, parks, and other social gathering spots outside the gym. There in here doing this for a reason. And it isn't because they "just like the sauna". Some dudes never even did workout. They'd go there, spend 2 hours in the locker room standing around naked, showering, shaving, admiring their naked bodies, whatever, then get dressed and just leave. It's a gym, not a bath house.

V, I apologize, no one does that at my club, yeah guys are naked in the sauna and steam and whirlpool, some even shave naked but no one spends that amount of time. Maybe try another gym, but don't give up on saunas or steam rooms, the older I get the better I appreciate them.

ugh, I should know that any topic that involves nudity, eventually goes gay. That being said, I do kind of have to agree with Vanity here. Men at my club frequently shave, watch tv, use the restrooms, and have conversations all in the nude. Why? I don't think it is necessary. At the very least, throw a towel on. Back on topic now. Dry saunas aren't saunas, don't waste your time in them.

My old dumpy apartment building had a sauna and I thought one day I'd give it a go. The sauna/shower/change room is all the way in the basement, and one day I go down to check it out. Nobody else was there... dim lighting, kinda creepy. I open up a locker to put my stuff in, and there is tons of "if you want a bj, come here every Thursday night at ... " and "looking for a good time, call..." type grafitti. That was enough to scare me away from using that sauna.

So, in summary. Yes to saunas. Yes to naked saunas. Yes to being naked. Yes to gay guys. Yes to naked gay guys at my gym/sauna. NO to using a public sauna as your private fantasy where you get your junk knocked around by other guys. Ugh...

I didn't check all the lockers for graffiti, so I'm not sure if the time I was there during a pre-designated BJ time, but I wasn't about to hang around to find out.

...I am not homophobic, so i hesitate to even get involved, but I have been propositioned by guys in locker rooms twice in the last year here in NYC. Both occurred at off-hours, Friday nights near closing time, when not alot of people were in the gym. It definitely freaked me out and now i don't go to the gym during times when i think it will be totally empty. Also, there was recently a lawsuit against Equinox gyms in New York brought by janitors fed up w/ walking in on gay sex acts...link below:

Sauna is a great invention, but it needs to be done right. I can't stand elecrical condo-saunas. You need a real sauna with a wood stove, in a shore of a lake in the middle of nowhere, a summer night and cold beer. That totally rules.
