Hi sophisticated stylists

Well I am looking into changing my hair style and perhaps other changes that may make me look more masculine. Well after several rejections from girls, I think Its high time that I make some changes. Please don’t tell me that they could have been other reasons for rejection because several came when everything was going perfectly and then she sees my picture and boom, and not interested/compatible/myType. Anyways I know I cannot change myself from average looking person to a handsome person. But I have seen people change their styles and have gone from a score of say 4 to 8 on hotness scale. Recently saw a female colleague just changing her hairstyle and just looked awesome!

So here are few pictures of me:

Basically I wear glasses and I am due to buy a couple of them, so if you have any advice regarding it, let me know as well. I guess any hairstyle, beard and glasses advice would be based on my face shape, So I am just attaching two very simple pictures of me with no hair product just to let you guys show my face shape (I think its quite round, whereas a friend of mine thinks its more diamond shaped) My hair style should be evident from the third and fourth picture (In case you are not sure, its short from sides and back and slightly longer at top but very texturized and bit messy. Thanks!

Hi Nab
The second two pictures of you look pretty good, better than your description stated.

Your friend is correct, you have a diamond shaped face and a sharp jaw/chin. That you cannot see that isn't unusual, I couldn't see that I had become quite fat and shapeless until I saw a video of myself.

Glasses: I had very good luck finding glasses at http://WarbyParker.com. They will mail you sample frames to try on at home. It's great, and the glasses are excellent, even at their very low price.

Dramatic eyeglasses can frame your face and balance out features -good and bad- just as a tailored suit jacket helps a man. Your current frameless glasses don't help with that, I think they might accentuate your long and rather thin face. They're crooked, by the way.

You need to wear colors that enhance your natural skin tone. Look up "color for men" (it's a book from the 80's), it gives a good starting point. Notice how you look better in the third picture than the first two? The colors enhance your skin tone, whereas the whites leave you a bit greenish. I realize the lighting is dramatically different, but explore this idea, you might be happy with the results.

Third, if you want to look more masculine, bulk up and do some lifting. Seriously, and no hate. You don't have to become cro magnon, but a bit of substance and muscle usually helps. Look at the 'random health' thread here: http://www.styleforum.net/t/156289/random-health-and-exercise-thoughts

I was fat, so I'm no expert, but members Fuji and maybe mrcharilybrown were quite thin and post on that thread regularly. There is a lot of very good, no-nonsense advice there. Helped me a lot with the opposite problem.

I hope you don't take this critique as insulting. You're a pretty good looking guy and just need to tweak a few things. Although I don't post pictures here, I've learned a great deal by reading, now I am considered to be very stylish and well dressed by my peers. I went from being a poofy-haired fat blob to "channelling a Cary Grant vibe", I've been told. I like that.

All the best,
Cod

This.

Also, the forum may berate me for this, but go to a store with some decent stuff (like Nordstrom, Saks, etc. ideally during a sale) and bring a few females friends. Try on stuff and see what they like best. Draw conclusions from this. In my experience, women do not have the best eye for materials and construction, but they are dead on when it comes to fit.

haha I agree it sounds funny but then most of us have some sort of rating in mind whether consciously or subconsciously.

Hey thanks for that...I guess recent problems have dented my confidence quite a bit

Thanks for such a detailed and helpful message. Yes I know my glasses are crooked :), in fact after I saw my picture, I have decided to change them. For you and the others who have said to bulk up and do lifting, I actually went to gym regularly for two years but recently I have been more into Wing Chun and other martial arts. I play tennis quite regularly as well. I am trying to get back into bodybuilding but havent been able to find time to do it. I am just 5 5' so too much bulking up would make me look odd :) Moreover I dont think it will have any effect on my face?

So do you guys have any advice for any hairstyle that would suit my face and similarly any glasses that would be suitable.
