AE McAllister (balmoral) vs AE Players (blucher) with jeans + blazer?

Which of these would you go with for wear with slim, dark jeans and a blazer?

I like the extra broguing of the McAllister near the tongue (see top view), but I feel the lacing style of the Player's shoe is a bit more casual and might work better with jeans:

I think what I like most is this extra broguing because is make the wingtip feel less long & awkward looking from the top view. (Wingtips always have this long, torpedo like shape that I think looks great from the sides, but not so much from the top. Anyone else agree?)

I'm not a big fan of the closed lacing, but I suppose people wear Strands with jeans all the time and those are balmorals.

Obviously they are pretty similar. Thoughts?

imo the 2nd pair would look better with jeans

The Player shoe is inheritently more casual because of the lacing, but brogued shoes go poorly with jeans if you ask me. I know a lot are going to disagree with me on that one, so take that as you want.

Tequila, I used to feel the same way for sure. Lately, I'm kind of under the impression that any nice shoe that draws a little attention to you is rarely a bad thing when worn casually.

Anyone else?

blucher if you're going to wear with jeans. personally I'd never wear a pair of those w jeans though. much sharper with chinos, but even then, the blucher is better.

a lot of broguing always = blucher for me nowadays.

i like my bals to look slick. rotflmao.gif

If that's the case, then why does nearly the entire forum here advocate the Strands as a great casual shoe? To me, other than its beautiful walnut color, they have all the elements of a formal shoe: cap toe, balmoral style lacing, etc.

what are you talking about nearly the entire forum says it's a 'casual' shoe? quite frankly I think you'd look dumb wearing strands with jeans.

here they are with grey suit bottoms:
