He's big over on SZ, im not a fan of his work. feels like every piece needs more refinement and you need to put effort into styling his offerings. Pretty much in person you can tell its amateur work. But he's getting better. I dislike the heavily religious connotations that appear on his clothes, that is A reason i don't buy from him, but not the only.

and lets be honest here, you're better off buying rick owens at the prices he's charging (especially with the discounts that rick owens clothing has now), you can pull it off with less effort, its more recognizable and its worth a little more in the used market shall it not fit you upon ordering.

Zam just introduced this "no reselling pieces that don't fit you" policy on SZ. thats another strike against him.

ZB was better back when Rick Ownes moved fast at retail, and the Rick Owens sale on GILT was a huge ordeal.

now you see Rick stuff on gilt, yoox, mr.porter and even here in socal on deep discount. If you need a rick piece bad enough you can get it for cheaper than ZB stuff

Zam's prices are not bad at all. Especially considering the quality.

I have some LUC pants that cost me more than double what I paid for similar pants from Zam. I ended up selling the LUC ones because I actually preferred his.

Also rick and zam are a completely different aesthetic. I would never be caught dead in 90% of the pieces put out by RO.

If the pieces dont fit, you return them to him...???

And saying ZB is "amateur work" is laughable.

Ill second the laughable part with the inclusion that OP posts way too much and hes annoying

W r to zam i have some pieces and i find the quality of construction and materials to be very high. With his frequent sample sales his stuff can be had at great deals. Didn't hear that no reselling thing; lame, if it's true. Pretty decent guy to buy stuff off...

I wish I could taper the thighs down, but I don't know of any tailors I can trust enough to do that, and I'd feel bad asking zamb since I am not a frequent customer.

but yeah, i can see where 951socal is coming from. i think zamb himself said that his vision is not fully developed, but he's progressing towards it. that's understandable; having a focused vision is one thing, but having it focused and unique is one of the hardest things to do in fashion, imo. but the quality of his work is definitely not something to shake a finger at.

I understand you're a huge fan of his (this is thread number 6?) but you should probably take a little more objective approach to it. Most of the looks he is modeling here i wouldn't wear here in SoCal, id assume i'd be harassed by the police as a transient where i live.

Rick does have a lot of ridiculous and unwearable looks (blanket cardigan, most of the footwear i can't drive stickshift in, or its just childish for a man my age to be wearing) but i believe his aesthetic is more inline with a wearable aesthetic for the average Californian, being a Californian himself. ZB is very east coast fashion forward which just doesn't work here with the weather or even the tastes of some people here.

i'm well aware of that. I've had a few conversations with him on SZ. Ultimately i decided to pass on some of the pieces he was offering, this was back in 2009/2010. i no longer post there, but i do look over each of his sample sales seeing if i come across something that i may wear one day, its been many years since i've been watching and nothing speaks to me yet.

Different strokes for different folks. I understand the points you are making fully.

I do live in LA though, and rarely get weird looks. Who gives a damn about the "tastes" of people where you live... Wear what you like.

I think its more of a "do it out of respect" policy. It's only for the sale. Not clothes bought at retail price. Though I don't understand why he does it.

I have a tailor currently doing this to a pair of painters canvas j pants I have from him. Im curious to see how it turns out. I'm expecting the worst. She told me she could "straighten" them for an extra fee. Lol.

Zam's minimalist jpants are good value for the money. and, they're built tough and also can take the harsh beating. or in other words, I can wear ZB jpants while getting lap dances and never have to worry about torn seams. :slayer: Can't really do that with BBS or LUC - mostly because they're expensive and it hurts seeing torn seams on them.

you should probably re-read the first page of his current sale thread

"Items bought in this sale CANNOT be resold here on SZ during the sale."
