This policy has become incredibly annoying to me. I have been perfectly on topic but in fact cannot ask new questions in the "Ask a Question, Get an Answer" thread because by the time my post has already been approved, people have moved on 3 posts down. I imagine that thread is supposed to collate all the newbish and amateurish questions that get asked over and over again, but if they cannot actually get answered because moderation takes far too long to approve them, how does that dissuade a new poster from becoming new thread happy? And I think I'm fairly persistent as someone familiar with major forum etiquette, but for others new to online social participation, I imagine there is a pretty significant loss of conversions from those who are "lurkers" to getting involved as a result of this policy as well..
