I had a friend who always wanted me to bring her back t-shirts. She never offered to pay for any of them, so I stopped.

I never bring stuff back. Not worth the headache.

I no longer do it, too much trouble for often ungrateful recipients.

I once had a friend of my wife's ask me to take several suitcases - they were moving to england and I used to travel there pretty much every month, so they thought it wouldn't be a problem for me to take two suitcases a month for a year, I told them to fuck off and they were surprised.

several years ago I was flying to houston from l.a. and my old aunt (whom I love dearly but can get illogical sometimes) vehemently insisted that I bring a pound of cherries with me and stuffed it in my bag. what the hell would I do with a pound of cherries??

Should have gone w/ your gut and rubbished the thing.

Here's some of my examples.

1.)A death in the family
2.)Family emergency
3.)Getting sunburn (watch the original The Heartbreak Kid from 1972 for example)
4.)Bad hotel room/bathroom
5.)Loud noise from next door

Got off lightly. An acquaintance asked that I buy him a pheran (a wool cloak) in Kashmir. It was kind of expensive, but more troubling was that I had all my ski gear and no room to pack this. Struggle I did and packed it; he didn't like it and refused to pay.

whoa. what a fucking asshole. you should use that pheran as a wick, make a molotov cocktail and burn his house.

It cost 200$ to ship 1cm3 by ship from the us to europe, so why would any one go through all that trouble.

years ago I had two things like this - my landlord at the time, a very old man and a holocust survivor, told me he needed pure wool long underwear that wasn't available in Israel, and asked me to buy some for him. he kept stressing that it had to be 100% wool. so I spent a whole afternoon looking for 100% wool underwear, going to maybe 6 places that had 80% wool. I found it, bought it and, while he paid me, he never stoped bitching about how expensive it was. turns out it was available in israel, it was just expensive, and he figured that it would be cheaper in germany.

another time I brought a bottle of gin for somebody, and right before I gave it to him the bottle broke, and he didn't pay me for it. after that, I stopped bringing anything for anybody.

I did this once - a guy was going skiing and I asked him to get me a t-shirt (ski area same as my last name). he came back and presented me w/ a shirt bearing the name of an adjoining area w/ the explanation that the skiing was actually better there.

Man, some people are such self-centered pricks. Seriously, incidents like this make me erase those people from my life.

When the woman starts her period the day you leave and you realize you wasted all that money on a room with a nice bed and Jacuzzi. Would have been cheaper to stay at a $40 a night motel and rent Jaws. Same visuals with no cleanup. Then she gets pissed if you don't feel like spending a lot of money her in her useless state.
