What stuff ruins your vacation? - Page 2

Montezuma's revenge.

It doesn't matter who you're with, that shit'll ruin any trip.

I mostly travel alone, so I don't have to deal with other people.

People who can't walk for more than 20 minutes.

People who would prefer to eat in a restaurant that is also located at home.

People who try to hit the tourist sites (e.g. museums) even though they have no interest in what the site exhibits (e.g. art).

I think the number one reason is Rain.

you know that friend that just "kinda broke up" with a significant other who "needs a vacation"? don't go with that person. (especially with text/email/facebook/cellphones/voicemail).

you know that friend that just started a relationship with a significant other in the "corny and gooey stage"? don't go with that person either (especially with text/email/facebook/cellphones/ect).

you'll end up wanting to strangle/drop kick the emasculated guy who's on the phone/checking facebook/email/text/ect 85% of the time and distracted by his own shit.

My wife and I went on vacation with another couple. She was fine. All he did was complain about other people at the resort. Now if he would have just laughed at them, that would have been OK and maybe even amusing.

another stupid idea encouraged by hollywood rom-coms. "oh girl, forget about him. you know what you need? a fucking trip to provence or milan or whatever european city/town with a plaza and fountains. yeah, the best way for you to move on is gorge on pasta, wail in public about your miserable state, get into improbable but funny situations with unhappy locals, and meet and fuck a complete stranger with an accent and think that you will defy the odds with long distance relationships"

Why do Americans talk so loud in public while in foreign countries?

Americans only seem loud in countries where people are quieter.

Maybe it's a perception thing? I was thinking of when I stay in hotels in Beijing sometimes. The normal background hubbub is Mandarin, which I hear all the time, and perhaps people talking with distinctive American accent tends to cut through it. Most western tourists one meets in China tend to be American.

if loud people at breakfast ruin a whole vacation for you... then well that's just your problem.

complaining about loud americans at breakfast should be something to rant about in the "things you just don't get" or "things that are pissing you off" threads.

i've personally noticed that scottish people tend to have horrible body odor, and asians don't know how to properly line up (or the concepts of lines), but that won't ruin a vacation for me - my favorite vacations were recent ones to Scotland and Vietnam.

I'm one of those people who thinks that a vacation is something you do to relax, not to be headed from one site to the next. So that usually means i'm better off at home in a lounge chair outside. I have only one friend and my fiancé in which I can vacation with and find it enjoyable.
