The official SW&D thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 4

Steven Alan resale isn't the best. Not sure why it dropped so much. 3-4 years ago I sold a couple pre-owned shirts for $30-$40. Recently I tried to sell some really nice pre-owned reverse-seam shirts and they didn't even hit $15.

Their cut and the quality is great though. I'd definitely pick them up if they fit you just for personal wear.

I mean, maybe I'm young and all but I figued you guys who lean with the SW&D style would obsessively read fashionable tumblrs/blogs and check out e-tailers like Context/Oi Polloi/Need Supply and know these brands by heart.  If I saw Steve Alan in a store, I would instakop.  I already grab any Billy Reid I see and he's a slubby modern southern man cut.  Any recent NYC brand  is well worth your time.  If the label looks eclectic, the fabric is fresh, and the cut is slim, you NEED to buy it.  It will sell with the right keywords on eBay.  People already buy poorly designed and manufactured things at Urban Outfitters and Forever 21.  Your eye for quality and cut should lift up your items to a quasi-grail status.

There aren't really many good fashion tumblrs or blogs.

You really don't.

TIP: If you see something that sold that you want, send the seller a friendly email that if the buyer dosnt follow though you'd pay "X" amount for the item.... as many of you know from selling, items dont get paid for at an alarming rate...

+1. Been doing this a while. Hasn't worked yet, but....

Let me say at the outset, I know nothing about SW&D. The point of me following this thread is to learn. In that vein, I ask the following: Victorinox shirts -- worth a pickup? Saw a double button through flap pocket shirt in lavender (black buttons) the other day for $12 (thrifts here are on the pricier side). I passed b/c there were no slots for collar stays, and I HATE it when my collar turns into the Flying Nun. Mistake?

Victorinox is kinda meh but I'd say most of my nice shirts from sw&d brands do not have collar stays.
