Roughout is the flesh side of full grain leather, whereas suede is missing the top grain (which gets used for other leather goods).

Awesome, thank you. Functionally would there be much difference between the two?

I would assume that the thicker the leather the more durable the boot. But there are a hell of a lot more factors than that to consider...

Put my suede penny loafers on eBay, just if anyone was interested.

One is sliced in half. The other is turned over, rough side out and scuffed until desired texture. I think they may tray the suede with something after slicing.

Brannock Device: 8E (R), between 7.5-8E (L)

Alden Barrie Last: 7E

Alden Trubalance Last: depending on the specific boot, 7D-7E (but closer to 7E)

Alden Leydon Last: 7.5E

Oak Street: 7.5E

I hope that helps a bit for reference.

This helps a lot! For me, your comparison means that the Oak Street Vibram Sole Trail Oxford might be dimensionally similar to an Alden Unlined Chukka and is maybe a bit closer cut than an LHS. Here's something to make your comparison even easier to follow:

The natty cxl roughout is a boot I have been really wanting. What toe styles and soles will it be available in? What is the estimated time frame to market availability?

Big thanks to Tim at Independence for helping me size on a pair of trenches :fistbump:
