Hopefully I can clear this up for anyone that does a google search using keywords too. I measured a 10D on the Brannock scale. Don't know what your measurement is? That's okay too. This is how I compare:

TTS - 10D

Clarks Desert Boots - 9.5D Sized Down Half

Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot - 9.5D Sized Down Half

Red Wing Iron Ranger - 9.5D Sized Down Half

Converse - 10

Common Projects - 42

Nike Free - 10.5 Sized Up Half

Oak Street Trench Boots - 10D

Man, we are the exact same size. Daumn, guess I gotta retry 10s in the trenches (again...). Btw if anyone's interested in some brown 9.5s lemme kno- I give up with these!

Also, George, any updates on an all roughout trench? Think it's my answer to a boondocker boot!

b-ewing, I was in the same boat as you. Ordered the 11 and 11.5 in the brown Trench, and I felt like I was swimming in the latter. The former were just a touch too short, but fit perfectly everywhere else. I decided to try to make them work, hoping that they would loosen up and stretch enough to be comfortable. Gave them a solid week of wear, but it was pure agony. Not only were my toes sore, but my calves and quads and even my lower back were all starting to hurt. I gave up and decided to put them up in buy/sell, reordered the 11.5s, and found that they didn't fit so bad after all. Thick socks definitely help; actually, they feel great. (I feel kind of silly now that I put myself through 11 hell.) I imagine that after they stretch out I'll have to add an insert, but right now they're really good. I have narrow feet and fallen arches, and the Trenches seem particularly voluminous, which explains why I have trouble filling up the space. Anyway, like you, I love these boots, so I'm happy I was able to make the 11.5s work.

all this talk about sizing has me worried about my cordovans.  sticking to the .5 size up from my trail oxfords and hoping for the best.

I went half a size down, and (aside from admittedly being a bit narrow) they are fine - that is to say length is good and they don't flop around once they're on.

Finally pulled the trigger on some Oak Street boots. Was torn between brown vs natural and boot vs chukka. Decided my first boots will be a pair of the brown trench. Hard to tell how dark they really are from the different pictures I've seen. I'm hoping more on the darker side, but we'll see. Can't wait to get them (my size was actually in stock!). If all goes well, eventually I think my next purchase will be the natural chukka.

I've talked my SO's ear off about how awesome my TOs and TBs are and how great OSB/George/Tony/Tim are to the point where she actually wants her own pair. I could have sworn I read that there were (or at least were going to be) some model's that were women's (penny loafer and i vaguely remember boat shoe...). Did I imagine that?

Yeah, buddy!

Now to (re)try some size size10s for me biggrin.gif

George, does OSB offer gift certificates for the holidays? My fam doesn't exactly spend $400+ on each other in presents, but 2-3 gift certs would get the job done wink.gif
