I bought two pairs of shoes last Friday (Brown Trail Oxfords and Trench Boot).  The Trench boots are still a few weeks away but received the Trail Oxfords this week.  They're my 2nd pair of shoes from them and George included inside the box a handwritten note thanking me for ordering from them again.  I felt it was a nice touch.  I love American small businesses.

Even with the discount it was a bit more than the Rancourt Ranger Mocs, but it's the little things like this that makes me appreciate Oak Street.

Aww...now why'd you have to go and make me realize that...

I'll wait to see if he's got any sense of the timeframe, but if it's uncertain enough, I might just have to do that.

From discussions I've had with the guys there (Tony is the one I normally have chatted with) they seem able to do relatively-custom orders. Don't know what the costs of that is, but a different sole should be doable right now, I believe.

I think OSB is in another league than Rancourt. Especially with Customer Service.

I have a couple pairs from both and as quality of the products I would same was equal. I have not had a problem with either company to test there customer care.

Agree, customer service for me has been top notch at both.

I'd say that OSB has better customer outreach, but Rancourt's slowness is mostly due to how much custom ordering they're willing to do. Quality is great on both, Rancourt edges out slightly in terms of price and transparency on their ownership of the factory (still haven't gotten a clear answer on whether OSB's factory is solely theirs, or whether they share it with other brands). In terms of boots, OSB wins with the trench. In terms of shell cordovan, Rancourt is shell masters.

Overall, both are great, I get different shoes from each.

i didn't care for the pair of rancourts i got from club monaco (3-eyelet chukka in sand suede) on fit or finish, so i returned them. but i think i'm in the minority from everything i've read and would probably give them another shot if i was in the market for something they made. however, i am extremely satisfied with the peanut suede trail oxfords from osb. that's why god made horse races.

I was just wondering, those of you who have vibram soles, what do you use to clean them?
Thanks

Am I the only one having fit issues with the trench boots? Went tts, as advised, on a pair of sz 10Ds, and against my gut first impression wore em out without satisfying myself with the fit. The left boot is pretty solid, but there is significant slop in the right boot- my left foot is a tad bigger than my right, and I occasionally run into this problem or the reverse (left too tight, right perfect).

I threw in some insoles and it did the trick, but I'm fearful that it'll always bug me. Should I dump them, try to trade for a size down or stick with them? I'm bummin frown.gif

i think there's a good chance the cxl will stretch appropriately for each foot, so long as both are now a little on the tights side with insoles.  cxl will stretch a fair amount in width and depth if necessary, almost self-correcting.
