Two tone would be awesome, what about a natural/brown or natural/navy trail oxford? I love the natural even more after the first coat of venetian shoe cream... it looks fantastic.

I don't know about the whole two-tone thing. I like the blue/brown because they are both dark. Blue/Loden or Loden/Brown might be cool, but natural and any dark color is too contrasty in my oppinion. Epaulet did a natural/brown two-tone moc shoe a while ago and I wasn't a big fan of the look really (but they did the whole tongue/top of forefoot peice in natural). Maybe just a collar would look ok.

Should we put together some of the ideas and then start a separate thread and vote? What's the best way to do it?

Loden camp boot, with natural mudguard
or Natural camp boot with loden mudguard would be cool - both with the new Vibram sole we've been jonesing

^Slide - we definitely know what you're talking about. That shoe wasn't natural CXL, which i think was a big part of the problem....but I hear ya, we have to tred lightly while still shaking things up

Agree that the blue/brown works well because they are both dark colors. And, also agree that the Epaulet makeup didn't work very well. But I don't believe that was Natural CXL, was it? Their site calls it Natural Plug, and the color--what can only be described as Mary Kay--looks much lighter than natural CXL to me.

Really like the idea of a two-tone contrast that stays within the current OSB aesthetic, but pushes it in new directions. I think that would be something that is subtle yet stand outs, and classically trad but boldly innovative. That said, not sure exactly what "that" would be.

Natural CXL seems like a challenging color to use in a two tone contrast. It is a bit of an enigmatic tone in the first place, and even slight variations at Horween seem to quite dramatically affect its appearance.

The loden/natural or navy/natural could be interesting, but they would definitely be very high contrast.

I'll just add another idea into the ring. I think something with reddish tones could go well with natural. Here are pics of the cherry and natural trail oxfords. Cherry may not be the perfect reddish tone to pair with natural (and I don't know if George has any cherry in stock), but I think it suggests that a natural/reddish-brown pairing could be interesting. (An intrepid photo-shop wizard may be able to give a more definitive answer.). My suggestion would be to have the cherry on the "collar" and lace portion and the natural on the lower piece (as in the two tone boat shoe George posted above. However, the backstop could also be left natural, methinks, so as to avoid confusion with a bowling shoe).

Other ideas for a two tone, besides a color contrast, would be a contrast between textures, such as smooth/pebble or smooth/rough-out.

How about a suede Trail Oxford/Camp Boot with the Goodyear sole?

Not sure about 2 tone. It's being played a lot and no longer "different". It's starting to come off as tacky for me. Mixing textures as mentioned above sounds interesting. RL put out a canvas/leather chukka boat shoe that's interesting, but not cheesy. However, that's 1 man's taste/opinion. I'm more for understated tweaks, like a natural CXL camp boot w/ olive or chocolate brown laces and welt. Anyway, it's awesome that you're reaching out to your customer base for ideas.

It is really awesome that George is actively pursuing input from his customers.

Agree that two tone can be tacky and sometimes detract from overall appearance. But done subtly it can look very nice and add to the shoe. There was a mention of suede above, and a tentative vote for further consideration of a texture contrast. Just throwing this out there, but rough-out leather is more practical than suede and could look great in a rough-out/leather contrast. And I think rough-out is a very appropriate material for a trail oxford.

Really like the tan rough-out on these oxfords. And I think this is the vibram sole under consideration, isn't it?

Canvas is a good idea too! But you wouldn't have to go as far as RL to find an example. smile.gif

The sole I think Vibram Sand 2021?
I vote for loden green combo, mainly because I don't have one yet.
Anyway, maybe George, you can create mockup shoes/boots for us to visualize the design?

i really dig the cherry color myself. if that can be had on the collar of a ranger moc with loden green/navy that'd be pretty cool.

I'm still waiting for that captoe on the left. Looks dope.
