Gorgeous!!! Really nicely done and a great price

Is it shell cordovan? It does look like it (especially where you can see the edges of the leather), but the description says that it's CXL. It's sort of in the middle of reasonable prices, too expensive to be CXL, but a great price if it's shell. The fact that the word cordovan is often used to describe color #8 of any leather makes it confusing.

my guess is that #8 cordovan denotes the color, not the leather

HW Carter and Sons is also having a 50% off flash sale today.  So maybe those loafers could be an even better deal.  Info is in the sales alert thread but I'll post it here:

Just emailed them to ask, even though I already ordered 2 pairs this week.

If they reply in time I'll let you all know, as I'll have to get these as well if they are! Would you guys get the same size as in the trail oxfords?

My new Trench Chukkas. Like a bawse!

fyi, I am a true 10.5, wear 11 in sneakers, had to size down to a 10 in these for the proper fit. 10.5 "worked" but was a bit too loose so I excahnged them for the 10's which I am happy with

Is the sizing the same for the Shell beefrolls or do you size up for less stretch?

I shot Timothy from Independance an email about sizing (I can't say how awesome this guy has been with answering my questions) and he suggests a half-size down from your trail oxford size - this allows for the fact that whilst the leather will stretch, you've no laces on the loafer to snug them up.

Edit - if you're querying the shell stretching less than CXL then I'd like to know the answer too. I also wondered if them being lined will affect the sizing at all?

just grabbed two pair, thanks for the heads up.

would have grabbed the #8 loafer but already sold out in my size censored.gif

I was busy debating whether to go with the 1/2 size down or not, but they sold out of the 11 so that made my mind up for me! Got myself a 10 1/2* (which is what Tim recommended) - I guess we will see! Didn't think I'd be able to afford any decent cordovan shoes for a few years, so this will hopefully be a great first pair!

(*May not be the only pair I bought shog[1].gif)

Thanks again for the heads up!

**I accidentally posted this in the old thread :)  Sorry for the spam**

So after going through this thread all of last week, I ordered a pair of natural boat shoes.  It came in today and I gotta say - I LOVE THEM.  I've also purchased the fine footwear care kit also and everything including the shoes have been packaged professionally.  Looks like it was done with care.

I just wanted to say thank you to the forum, everyone, and special thanks to George and Tony from Oak Street Bootmakers.  I will definitely purchase your other boots/shoes in the very near future :)
