It's official - Oak Street Bootmakers is now an affiliate

I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself and Oak Street Bootmakers! My name is George Vlagos - I'm the founder and design director.
For those who aren't familiar with Oak Street Bootmakers, all of our shoes and boots are handcrafted in the USA by shoemakers with over 20 years of experience. The highest standards of production are employed to yield shoes that are as durable as they are comfortable. Each of our shoes make use of replaceable outsoles to ensure a lifetime of wear. All of our shoes can be resoled at a local cobbler, or sent back to us for re-crafting.
We use the absolute finest materials in the world - all of our shoes are constructed from renowned Horween Chromexcel Leather ( http://horween.wordpress.com/2010/03/23/chromexcel®-2/ ). Chromexcel undergoes 89 separate processes taking 28 days and utilizing all five floors of the Horween facility in Chicago. Over the past 100 years very little has changed in the formula. Food-grade beef tallow, cosmetic-grade beeswax, marine oil, chrome salts, tree bark extracts and naturally occurring pigments are combined. The mixture is then applied using heat, steam pressure, the hands of craftsman and time. This ultimately yields the soft, supple and durable leather that is used for your shoes or boots.
And a little about myself, I apprenticed at my father’s shop where I learned the craft of shoemaking from an early age. Today, we seek to preserve the heritage of fine shoemaking through thoughtfully designed and attentively crafted shoes.
Also - we recently made a short film of our crafting process, at our workshop in Maine - take a peek!
