Alright maybe more annoyed than pissed off at this but anyway:

Bought my first flat screen tv yesterday. Of course analogue cable won't do so I go in today and sign myself up for the digital package. They're running some special (like they always do), so I sign up for a year, get a discount on the first three months fees and get a HD box for free.

I spent my college years with a 20" CRT with built-in VCR so a 42" 720p plasma and HD cable, while not quite up to 1080p blu-ray omg-wow-quality, is still a pretty big step up. Naturally I'm getting rather excited by this point.

I get home, start to unpack it and... the RF cable connector is all crooked. How they managed this I don't know, guess the factory quality control could use some improvement. So I go back to the store again, get a new box, go home, plug it in. Do the setup, find all the channels and, hey, you need to download the latest firmware too. Ok, do that, and restart. And do the setup and find all the channels. Again. Alright, let's start watching? Of course not, all I get is a black screen and the text "Loading configuration data". 15 minutes go by, still nothing, so I start to google stuff. The answer is pretty simple, since I got a new box this one has a different serial number and I need to call customer support to have them pair it up with the cable card. Because that's what the media companies do, since those darn kids started downloading and sharing their music and movies and all that on the net, they take out their frustration on the legitimate customers by creating as many annoying useless restrictions as they can.

Alright, I suppose I can endure one customer support call to get this working.

"Welcome to customer support, we're closed right now"

I look at my watch, it's 9.01pm. Support closed at 9m...

So no HD TV for me tonight, perhaps tomorrow.

mangus, I feel you bud. Now you can only dream about what could have been. Chances are that customer service will be on vacation during the weekend so brace yourself now. I remember the first night I had HD. I sat there an watched a cheetah run across the screen over and over again the entire night because it was just so darn amazing. The Discovery channel was one of the few HD options back then. Times have changed.

Damn, what happened to that one girl in the pink shirt? Ohhhhh yeah, she said she was going up the street to another place. And she came over to tell me that. And no one was going with her. And I barely registered that because I was in the middle of telling some stupid story. FACE >>> PALM

My sister running her car off the road last night, causing me to have to leave Dulles and go pick her up before Etienne got in (essentially ditching him there ). Sister is just fine though.

Also, Dulles customs and immigration, for taking about 2 hours before clearing the flight. What a lovely government organization.

its almost march, but its still ******* 25 degrees out and it snowed 6 inches yesterday!

I hate filling out paperwork for my school, specifically Study Abroad and Internship forms. I have to schedule about five different meetings to get each form signed off on by an adviser or department head. So time consuming.

Britishers commanding me to 'have a nice day'. Hey, it's my ******* day and I'll have a nice one if I want a nice one; or a **** one for that matter. I don't want someone instructing me to have a nice one . OK?
I expect it from a United Statian ; not a Brit, or another continental for that matter.
