I think you can find some sweaty balls in DC if you look real hard

Yea, that part is not too hard - although I would much prefer 90 degree temps over the snow we will supposedly be getting over the next couple of days.

I guess it's not horrible, and though the 1000 side is pretty straight (just a hair convex - I can slide a piece of paper in under the center) the 6000 side is pretty convex, but that's just the polishing side.

I don't know if it's worth it to return the damned thing to Amazon; it was like $35. Am I going to ruin my knives on this thing?

Is that one of the Norton stones?

Regardless, yes you'll ruin your knives if sharpening them with it like that (based on my straight-razor honing experience, research and failures). They will never come perfect so you always need to flatten them before first use. I think for that stone you need a diamond flattening stone, draw with a pencil a grid on it, rest the stone on the flattener and move it with no downward pressure until the pencil lines are gone (meaning everying has been flattened evenly.

Having said that, perhaps it's too curved to be fixable, I guess you flatten your stone to remove nicks and bumps.

At the gym 2 days ago, I was doing lunges in between sets of squats on the power rack. Some gym n00b had to put away a 35lb plate, but saw the peg for the 35lb plates was full. So he decided to stick it on one side of the fucking bar I was doing my squats on.

Did you bitch at him? I would have and then complained to the gym management.

I'm sorry, but I won't read this message directly. However, if you get your people in touch with my people, we should be able to work something out.
