Yeah I could have been clearer in what I said. Allow me to try again: you sound like a cliquish little bitch, whispering in the corner to your girlfriends about that weird old dude. You could, on the other hand, approach him with an open mind and a legitimate interest in who he is and what he might have to tell you. Or you could whisper like a little bitch.

Mom is a charge nurse in a critical care unit with 30 years of experience. Flawless attendance record - 3 sick days in the last 10 years, works her ass off, old world work ethic, etc. She just found out today that due to budget shortfalls largely due to paying part-time graduates full-time pay as an incentive to get them to stay (only to have them leave anyways), she's being re-assigned to permanent nights and weekends. So, thanks for your 30 years of service as an honest employee; you now get shit hours because the Canadian healthcare system is a fucking clusterfuck of endless tiers of useless management with their heads up their asses redefining the term "wasteful spending." Now inexperienced grads are getting paid inflated wages, the CEO is pulling in a cool 700k/year and someone who represents the backbone of the healthcare system is getting jobbed. Fucking assholes censored.gif

What in the actual fuck? Way to jump to conclusions.

I was coming from a place of understanding that he might not feel that he fits in due to his age. I've befriended an older IT guy at our company and know it's something he experiences as well.

The new developer started today and I just know he's going to feel out of place when literally everyone around him is in their 20s, save for three or four people.

Where did you even get the sense from my post that I was talking shit about him with my coworkers? I never ever talk shit about coworkers.

Good job projecting.

Wouldn't it be funny if atlas and gf were colleagues in RL and didn't realize it?

I thought they was going to take a photograph of me for media story but no they did not. Turns out I didn't need to shave my visage after all.

Er, she still has a job.....no?

My mom retired as an RN after 35+ years at the same hospital. She had to work various shifts and assignments through the years. Stop bitching. Medical people work various shifts.

I have not accomplished many tasks today and I am tired and my back does hurt. I hope I can turn my day around to where I at least accomplish something of value.

^ For a better day, find someone you could turn around and accomplish many tasks with. Your back might still hurt but something of value will come out of it.

She's a charge nurse for her unit with specialised training in the area. Due to union rules, she can't bump out someone junior to her in a lesser role, so her role is getting slashed. She's always had various shifts, that's not the issue - she was told she could quit or get permanently stuck on evenings/weekends despite being the best with the highest qualifications, experience, and tenure... So again, thanks for being an ideal employee for 30+ years, but due to wasteful spending by people who don't know fuck-all, you're getting marginalised. Shameful thing is that patients will ultimately suffer because the health system here can't get its money straight because they pay middle management to decide what colour to paint the walls, whereas quality front line workers get reduced hours. Her supervisory responsibilities are now shared between rookie nurses and an educator with no practical experience... But hey, nurses work different shifts so its okay right?

Don't pass judgement if you're talking out of your ass.
