Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW!

Yesterday morning's apartment viewing was a no-go.

Even if I could have gotten the apartment ahead of the 15 other people who were waiting outside, it still wasn't what I wanted.

Quite a nice place really, but it was the ideal apartment for a single person who loves to cook but has no friends. It had nice kitchen, two porches/decks, big bedroom, etc. But, there was no dining area. Either you have to do all of your eating at the little breakfast bar counter in the kitchen that is ideal for 2, maybe 3, people, or you have to forgo having a living room couch/coffee table/TV. Would be perfect for someone who doesn't cook...but then why bother having a nice, large kitchen when you could have a small kitchen and leave a little room for a dining table to eat your takeout on.

That's a pretty good description of my apartment. We're trying to figure out a design that incorporates an eating area, but right now it's eat-in kitchen + living room, no dining room.

so, not pissing me off per se but there's no "things you can't believe you just saw" thread... I'm on my way to get lunch and walking down the lobby stairs, I see this woman ina sun dress on the escalator going up and a random 50-something office worker guy a couple steps behind her. Out of nowhere he slips his phone under her dress and snaps a pic, like nothing just happened. wtf

That is pretty much my place too. It works very well for me and my girlfriend. We don't have dinner parties or anything like that and usually we take our food and chow while watching a movie in the living area anyways

I mean, I don't need a dining room (and actually in the interest of economizing total square footage a formal dining room takes a lot more space than the equivalent space shared between kitchen/dining/living) but I need to have an actual dining table.

It doesn't have to fit the same round table I have now (although I quite like my table), but I am not going to cook someone dinner and expect them to eat it off my kitchen counter.

+1, very convenient. I would rather eat on the counter than on the dinner table.

I hate when sales reps try and convince me to buy an item I did not ask for, completely ignoring my inquire about a particular item as if they were deaf.

After class I decided to finally have the dead battery in my watch replaced, plebeian status; I know. I headed to the nearest jewelry store and asked about the Beaum et Mercier I have been drooling over and asked about battery changes. The guy changed my battery and then told me he could get me a deal on said watch. I played along, knowing I could find it online for 5,400 USD, and he pulls up the watch on a site called gemnation. The watch was selling for around 5,700 USD and I lost interest. I told him when I first walked in that I was not buying today, I simply wanted to see what my other options were in person. I then asked about an alligator strap, to replace my current black leather strap, and he takes me to the case. He measures my band and starts pulling out boxes; I notice a sticker that reads "alligator embossed leather", I take a quick look and tell him I am looking for a real alligator band, AGAIN. His response, "you want a real alligator band, those are more expensive", I tell him that is what I am looking for. He pulls out another case and shows me what he has in stock. Again, I was not impressed. He realizes this and tells me that these straps are the same alligator straps that Rolex and Beaum et Mercier use. I found that hard to believe, I was not impressed by the straps at all. I told him I wanted a dark brown or black strap, the face of my current watch is black, and he does not have any so he decides to show me a light brown strap. Again, I am disappointed.

At this point I considered looking at the watches he had available. I went over to the cases and started looking at Hamilton and Bulova, I ask him to tell me about Hamilton and he says, "they are great, made by the same company that makes Omega". Then I ask to see a bulova watch, he pulls out the manual and starts reading the specs and commenting that it is a very unique movement. He tells me this is the highest line bulova makes. I thanked him for his time and told him I would be in touch. I wanted to learn something from the guy but clearly he had not interest.

note: I am not sure if my attire had anything to do with how he treated me. I was wearing white tennis shorts, a gray v-neck, black shoes, and sunglasses (which I took off when I entered the store). I was politie to the guy the entire time, but I feel that he didn't care much for me.

Oh well, better luck next time.

My girlfriend always does this. She says she is making me dinner and then when I am about to go home she texts me and tells me that she forgot something and to pick it up on the way home. The item she conveniently always forgets is the most expensive ingredient of the dish. Not happy.
