Lincare, gynecomastia, while embarrassing, can be surgically treated. Please end your suffering by seeking help.

went to the doctor today for a follow-up on my damn hand. Good new hand is better. Got an iodine peroxide hand bath. My hand looks like an oompalumpa now. Wound looks better and the splint came off. Now a gauze pad and a light wrap.

Bad news, in taking my vitals nurse heard something funky in my heart (arrhythmia), plus really high blood pressure. Other docs passed over the high blood pressure as not that abnormal. 4 EKGs later, I am now on beta blockers and have adrenal/thyroid tests and a follow-up scheduled in two days. He literally said that my body is perpetually in fight mode and never comes down. His comparison was that my body literally feels like it is literally running a marathon all day everyday. All uppers are immediately cut.

Not sure I figured out how to feel yet.

I'm glad they discovered it.

FUCK YOU to the parking attendant who gave me a parking ticket for not having a "valid parking permit/beach pass" when in fact I've had a motherfucking beach pass pasted on my fucking windshield since first day it was available.

it must be fucking quota season for meter maids or something.

"I bought that annual beach pass well over a year ago!"

It could be thyroid-related.  My brother has Graves' disease, and it causes his body to constantly be doing the marathon you describe.

I schedule all the classes for my department. Owing to various constraints, such as availability of rooms, it is impossible for me to give everyone the schedule they want. Then I have to field a bunch of complaints.

Scary, Z. Glad they caught it, and I hope you get it worked out. High blood pressure is no joke.

Despite being healthy by all the common metrics, blood pressure is something that makes me nervous, actually. I sometimes register a bit high the first time they check at the doctor, but it always drops to normal when they check again, so it's chalked up to white coat hypertension. I have pretty much no risk factors for high blood pressure, but it still bothers me to see it high.

Based upon your work ethic and commitment, I'm confident present company is excluded, but my involvement with various university decision-making bodies when I was in grad school and friendships with a number of academics have taught me that professors, on average, hold an outrageous level of entitlement. I do not envy you having to deal with it.

We're half a game in and the whining, crying faces of flopping Brazilians (and to a lesser extent Croatians) are already pissing me off.

Oh, and is that referee Japanese? F**** Japan, then. (It's the World Cup, so we're supposed to treat every participant as 100% representative of every one of his countrymen, right?) Very first game, and he rewards a dive in the penalty box by the home team with a likely game-deciding penalty kick. A fine start to the tournament.
