^ Recently read the Tom Hardy interview in Esquire…

We went back to the car, and by this time the wooden gate was closed. Hardy had to get out and open it, and the old flowermonger made a sardonic comment.

"Clever old cunt, isn't he?" Hardy said as he drove away, but then he threw the car into reverse and bought a bouquet of flowers wrapped in plastic.

"Why did you buy the flowers?" I asked. "I thought he was a clever old cunt."

"He is," Hardy said. "But maybe one day when the water gets deep, he'll be the one with the skiff. He'll be the one with the oar, and I'll be glad I bought flowers from the clever old cunt."

License to say "cunt" is one of the perks of being British. lol8[1].gif

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. Are you saying they deserved D's and C's but received higher grades, resulting in that average GPA? Or are you saying there was a barbell distribution the grades that weren't D's and C's tended to be A's, thereby pulling up the average?

I mean in terms of actual grading on the normal scale they earned between 60-79% of the possible points in the classes, yet received 80%+ on average in those classes.

I'd say she was late 30s.

I took AP classes in high school so that I could do nothing but show up, get Cs, and have them count like Bs against my GPA (since they were weighted).

My employer is always making me change my passwords on account of security worry. So you can guess what happens, after I change my password I still type in the old one betimes, to where it won't let me into my "apps." (For my passwords I always choose the names of my favorite Dutchmen of history.)

Like Harrison For in Witness? He seems pretty famous.

(Don't answer that or your employer might make you change it again!)

How many more times will you have to change your password before you run out of speed skaters?

I don't even remember high school... I think I remember taking algebra II, but I don't remember any of the class. In college, I went straight for jock math: The Shapes Around Us: A Practical Application of Geometry. Aced it!

I mostly remember the parts for which I was awake. I used to wake up in the morning and plan which classes I could sleep through that day.

I did something similar to you in college, though I did take more advanced stuff for stats and research methods. It was actually kind of funny - at one point I was taking stats and some blow-off math course at the same time. During one of this lectures, my stats instructor somehow got to talking about other math courses. He specifically referenced the class I was taking, talking about how it was easy and for people who couldn't do math, calling it "math for poets." laugh.gif

Oh, and now I do math for a living. uhoh.gif

pissing me off... its acidkid #2's birthday on sunday and we have a small celebration with family sunday afternoon. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
and I cannot and do not want to invite my folks over. such a dick move and I hate myself for doing this but they really rile me up and I get so fucking stressed out. and I'll hate myself more because of this "take the high road" bullshit and chances are I will eventually invite them because I'm gonna think- this has nothing to do with the kids anyway (besides the fact that their house is sort of near to our place)

Don't invite them. I cancelled Christmas one year to get my folks to settle the fuck down. We still visited on Christmas Eve, but there were no gifts exchanged. We ate, chatted, cooked churros, everyone was pleased. Why we've returned to gift exchange in the years since is a complete mystery. Oh wait, my folks asked to do that. *le sigh*

My consulting firm is so prestigious that I doubt you have ever even heard our name before.
