To all the older, more mature / experienced poasters -- have you ever re-evaluated your friendships with the closest of your buddies, out-of-the-blue (not due to a falling out or anything of that nature)? What was the outcome?

relative to you, that's everybody here less Neo.

To answer your question, "life" takes care of that, you both get busy and start doing other things.

It's 2013. It's ok. You guys can fuck each other.

I know a *ton* of people who sleep with this setup (no flat sheet, no non-comforter blanket, no need for some special duvet cover).

Sure, lots of places sell them out of the same product line...so you can assume that the background color of the patterned duvet will match the solid sheet, but they are always sold out of the damned matching piece. Either you can get sheets in a color but not a duvet cover, or you find a nice looking duvet cover but the matching color/fabric sheets are nowhere to be found.

I gave up and just bought a single fitted sheet that I hope be a suitable replacement for the one I tore (luckily the duvet cover was patterned with a mix of colors so a perfect match is not necessary)
You want the duvet cover directly on your body? I bath at least once a day and I still change my sheets every 1-2 weeks and they need it. Most duvets are dry-clean only. I wouldn't want to dry-clean something every 2 weeks, it wouldn't last a year. I also wouldn't want dry-cleaning chemicals against my skin while I sleep. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Living in the past.

Cotton duvet covers FTW.

This is how I sleep.

I like the weight and the look. Puffy comforters make me feel uncovered.

My bitch about the way bedding is usually sold is it's hard to find a set that contains more than two pillow cases and stores often do not have matching pillow cases sold separately. What couple has just two pillows on their bed? If it's a king put in at least four pillow cases.

I miss my old futon in college. That motherfucking frame didn't even last a year, so you go the eventual route of just putting the futon right on the bare floor.

2 people = 2 pillows. My wife does not agree. I honestly could sleep without a pillow though.

Where are you guys shopping for bedding-- Bed Bath and Beyond? Any decent bed linens are sold separately, save the pillow cases that come in packs of two.

On mine, there is fitted sheet, flat sheet, quilt/coverlet, wool Pendleton blanket, then the duvet/down comforter and then the pillows.

Huh?

The duvet cover...is a sheet-like cover for the comforter?
Gets washed the same time as the sheets
