Whoa! Check your white bread dietary privilege at the (microwave) door! The person was probably a hard working immigrant from a culture that has a high level of skanky fish in their diet.

isn't your work environment kitchen a McDonald's?

That happened once. Point is, I feel your pain.

I don't understand people like this. Do they just not realize how gross it is to everyone else?

Whatever fish this person was making was absolutely foul. It literally, and I'm not exaggerating here, smells like the odor that comes from dogs when their anal gland leaks. For a moment, I was scared that one of my dogs had done this to my clothes somehow and I'd just noticed it. How anyone can eat something that smells like that is beyond me.

Yeah, I avoid ours at all costs. We have a small dorm-room-style fridge in my division, and that's well maintained, but I don't even bother with the larger common-area stuff. The thing that made this even grosser was the fact that the kitchen is halfway across our (rather large) building. It was so rank that it permeated through the whole building, I'm guessing through the HVAC.

I'm an erstwhile Floridian, Piob, so this describes me. How 'bout you check your own I-assume-everyone-is-a-fellow-white-breader privilege at the door?

I accidentally ate a lot of glutens last night (some digestive privileger didn't warn me that they were in the food at group), and now my CFS is acting up. Can we fight tomorrow (assuming my fibro doesn't flare)?

My cousin has moved back into my area after spending most of his life out of state. (FL)
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
His mother (my Dad's sister) married very poorly and she and the husband, after having my allegedly learning-disability-riddled cousin, promptly fled the area. Personally I don't think my own family's attitude towards their disapproval were helpful (nor obviously were the apparent shortcomings in my aunt's upraising that led her to these poor choices) but the assessments of the situation were not off the mark. My uncle has claimed mood and other disorders that make working too stressful for him; he has not worked for more than 20 years. In the meantime, he has had 2 failed suicide attempts ("attempts") that have them $200K in medical debt. Her son is 27, hasn't ever worked on a proper payroll, and has a live-in girlfriend (after a failed marriage, at 22, to a 16-year-old girl). My aunt theoretically supports all four of them on her residential real estate career, which, needless to say, is a shambles in southern FL. The reality is that they have been nearly completely supported by various gifts from family; my 96-year-old grandfather sends tens of thousands of dollars a year. In the meantime, my cousin drives a Jaguar (albeit a used one, but expensive to repair - more on that later) and my aunt drives a sporty Infiniti SUV. My enabling aunt has, more or less, stolen money intended for my cousin to keep the family afloat, while buying his marijuana because, according to her, it helps soothe his own mood issues (no doubt behavior inherited or learned from his father), and my assumption is at least partially because he has a possession bust.

They all blew into town for the holidays (extorting sympathy money from various family members along the way) and now apparently my cousin wants to stay here and work. He seems earnest and perhaps even with a very naive and nascent understanding of how his own family has really fucked him but honestly I don't know what to believe. Unfortunately, I have been thrown right into the rehabilitation effort in ways I'd rather not get completely into, but in the meantime, he's already got $4000 in car bills on the Jaggy, which broke down. Naive other members of the family are already ponying up to pay the fucking bill, instead of making him sell it and go lease a fucking Hyundai. In the meantime, there is all sorts of acrimony and bullshit flying through the whole family (e.g. me and my dad practically catatonic with the dipshit members of our family who are paying this kid's bills already - I suspect, despite a general family agreement to the contrary, they are about to plunk down for his apartment with the girlfriend, who, oh by the way, is in her 20s but has no driver's license and claims she will work but ???).

tldr version: my supremely dysfunctional, user family has blown into town and they are bringing all their dark clouds with them.

If I were CEO of a company and one of those reply all blasts occurred, I would fire all the employees who reply all back.

Sort of. A very senior executive sent a meeting invite to a bunch of staff including me. I wanted to flag for my boss and his deputy that it conflicted with another one of our meetings. So I forwarded (like I would a normal email) the meeting invite to the two of them, saying as much. Well 30 seconds later deputy informs me it went to the whole group. Not a huge deal since I didn't say anything stupid but most of the people on the chain don't know about it and it may lead to some head scratching (likely including heartburn given the normal anxiety levels here). Not to mention my message meant for the two seniors on my team was a little casual (I wouldn't address the originator that way). Anyway, boss is cool with it but feel pretty dump.

For anyone interested, to do what I did without sending it to the whole group, in the main view under the "respond toolbar", select "more", then select "Forward as Attachment".

last weekend (before the hard rain yesterday) I slipped and fell onto frozen ground. through the laws of public embarrassment I bounced right up and pretended not to be hurt/injured and continued on walking my dogs.

but now I'm fucking ailing. I've got a huge bruise on my ass and prolonged sitting while driving fucking hurts. weirdly I can still run fine, I ran 4 miles yesterday in the rain.

the dirt part of the path was covered in a thick sheet of invisible ice. it was so fucking slippery that my dogs slid down about 10feet of a slight incline with me. lol8[1].gif

i knew there was black ice, but didn't know there was brown ice.
