PART 2 - IT guy shows up around noon, so I've already been listening to the buzz for 5+ hours today, and then "fixes" it and leaves while I am at lunch. Except that it is still buzzing when I get back. And he has left us for the day, so I'll be dealing with this for the rest of the today and half of tomorrow at least.

You know what happened twice today? I was at a urinal station and then another person entered the restroom and went right for the station next to mine, even though every other station was available for use. Come on guys, there are norms about that.

Got two extremely inopportune telemarketing calls on my office phone and cell phone today. On the bright side, it spurred me to register all my numbers on the Do Not Call registry. I thought they were already registered but the site said no - well, hopefully I've just solved the problem

This is outrageous. Just completely outrageous.

I think students think I am in my office 9 to 5, so that they don't really put me out of my way if they don't show up. Or at least that is a generous interpretation of their actions.

At this point, I am so accustomed to it that it doesn't even anger me anymore.

Thanks, F. I haven't written off the idea entirely (and can't exactly change it right now, anyway), but I've really just started to wonder if maybe it's not for me.

Edina certainly doesn't help. I spend most of my days living in mortal fear that we'll cross paths.

Easy. Back up everything important on an external hard drive. Remove fan, hit with hammer, replace fan. Work as usual until CPU melts. Call IT and complain that computer no longer functions properly.

Shit. Somebody beat me to a pair of vintage cordovan longwings I was excited to buy on ebay. I put them on watch late last night and went back this evening to buy them and they were gone. I hope it's one of you guys.

Did they wink or tap your foot with theirs?

No one has ever winked at me or tapped my foot while I was standing at the urinal station. I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad about that.

Be merry and gay about that. ( or you may want to be merry and gay in a different way). What ever strokes your boat.

Yeah, I think pretty nearly anyone who would wink or tap shoes at a urinal station would be sort of creepy. But what if someone really handsome did wink at me? Then I'd be thrown for a loop because I'd suspect there was something really wrong with the guy, even though it was hidden under the surface of handsomeness. But if I judged too hastily that he had hidden creepiness, I might miss an opportunity. Man, it sure can be hard to know what to do in life!

I'm sick of girls posting how thankful they are for stretch pants during the holidays. We get it, bitch; you like eating treats and need to pressure your peers into conforming to the lowest common denominator of self-restraint.

Would you all believe me if I told you that I was fed up with it all and just basically couldn't even take it anymore? Well you shouldn't believe me because it is not true those are just words that entered into my mind when I stopped "guarding my thoughts" for a moment (happens betimes when I drink port wine).

those betimes should happen more often (stop "guarding your thoughts")

+++++

its the time of year again, where the acidwife brings up the list of people we're giving gifts to, and I'm gonna try putting a spending limit per person and the wife thinks it's too low (specially if its her family members) and then we have to set a day/days where we go buy gifts to people, half of them (or more) I don't even talk to, nor do I want to, nor do I really care about.
