Getting ready to head out to my second charity banquet this weekend. Bah.

The only mildly good point was got to wear my tux last night and tonight wearing a three piece suite with peak lapels and ticket pocket I rarely wear.

I have a serious crush on Greta Gerwig. She was incredible in Damsels in Distress.

I'm in a real dilemma. The nearest all-around gym is .7 miles away, but there's a crossfit place only .2 miles away. I have a few friends who do the CF thing. Two of them are full-cult members who crap up my Facebook feed with the jargony descriptions of their "accomplishments." However, the third person is a guy who you'd never know does the whole CF thing if you weren't good friends with him. I've talked to him about it, and he mocks the full-cult people as much as the rest of us. Basically, to him, it's just a really good workout where the women tend to be attractive and scantily clad. He also swears that looking at said women is tacitly encouraged, but that might just be how he rationalizes ogling them.

Either way, my point is that you can do CF without becoming a Crossfit person (though you have to resign yourself to working out around them), and it's supposed to be a great workout.

you dont have to do the crossfit workouts. they generally have all the equipment you could want except for machines. the downside is they're generally super expensive

i googled greta gerwig expecting a silver fox. i was pleasantly surprised

Insomnia here, too. Was after 4:30 when I finally fell asleep. Going to be a very rough day. May come home after lunch, we'll see what I have going on.

It's a month late, it should be well below zero now, not 15c a rain, that's summer weather.

cold I'd be fine with. the rain is the problem, the bag I have today isn't waterproof (had to bring my laptop to campus) and I was supposed to go to the post office with important documents I only have one copy of.... can't afford to get these wet.

Marathons. My wife ran a marathon yesterday and so tired of people acting as if it is some amazing feat that is impossible. I mean, have seen how fucking fat some of the people are that successfully complete a marathon? It's just running at your own pace for hours.

Do crossfit but ignore all pressure to join the cult mentality. Shit is stupid. Workouts can be good though if you find a good gym with coaches that won't get you injured. Paleo blah blah bullshit avoid.

the solution that always works for my insomnia is reading basic textbooks from college. i have a few by the bed and within minutes of reading my mind says "fuck this" and starts to want to sleep.

if you don't sleep at least you went over some basics again. but the old college nature of wanting to sleep instead of study/read for something usually kicks in quick.
