it might work for this wednesday's game, but it involves scenarios going without the wife (i'd bring an old friend/close cousin from boston/RI or maybe fly out my older brother - if he's free). my wife will be wicked jealous. Its probably not worth the hassle, I saw this team a bunch this year anyway.

Lawrence, I know your baseball/basketball preferences, but are you a Pats fan as well?

yup I'm a huge Pats fan, but watching NFL Football live (especially at Foxborough) sucks.

I'm a bruins fan as well. Conversely the best major sport to watch live is NHL Hockey. Hockey tickets are very expensive though.

how could watching your team, at home, in the world series, not be worth the hassle?

It was 45* outside when I left for work this morning, and it's still barely 70* now that it has warmed up. Despite this, whoever controls the AC in my building has decided to run it at July-August levels, and, as a result, it's freezing in my office. Despite my down-South raising, I don't tend to get cold easily, so it's saying something about the temperature if I'm complaining about it being chilly.

My mustache is outta control. I can't eat or drink with this thing. I'm not using mustache wax. I think I'm gonna trim it.

I am being asked to settle a lawsuit for a nuisance amount, e.g. south of $10K, for something that is going to take me at least $30K in legal fees to defend if it goes to trial. (We've already spent like $80K) Could be worse if we have to appeal, but we appear to have an ironclad legal argument that will prevail on appeal even if we get screwed by a jury. In fact, we are no longer even defendants; we were let out of the case after a successful motion for dismissal. The only defendant left is our employee, but we are paying for his defense so as not to leave him twisting in the wind.

Even a $10K settlement, however, would put a few grand in the pocket of a convicted unemployment insurance fraudster who we have on tape at deposition saying, repeatedly, that he will do anything, say anything, even lie under oath, to get money, who sued us after temping here for less than three weeks.

The case was taken by an unemployed fresh law school grad on speculation, who has now been employed by a firm and told to get this thing done. He hadn't even made a settlement offer, not one, even at mandated settlement mediation.

I don't want to pay it. I want the pyrrhic victory. But it is stupid to do so. But it is also infuriating to think that this guy would see a penny.
