I've written just a short cordial note and placed it anonymously on someone's door just politely asking that they be aware of closing the door quietly. That has worked and avoided any confrontation. On the other hand, I have complained to my landlord when necessary (under different circumstances, different location) as well.
LMAO but I have actually done this to a particularly unruly neighbor. My landlord (who apparently knows me too well) called me on it and said the guy in that apartment got so scared after I started banging on his door late at night. Haha.. good... so stop slamming the fuking door! Problem solved. nod[1].gif

Check to see if the door(s) have the kind of hinges that have a built-in spring that closes the door by itself. These can be adjusted so you don't get so much 'slam'

But it's probably just the case where the person is a slammer. These people lack a certain level of social awareness - the void is present in most humans as children, but you grow out of it (i.e. become more attuned to your surroundings), so you stop screaming inside, running up and down the halls, slamming doors, etc.

Yesterday, to get his girlfriend's attention after he closed the front door, he started banging on it and screaming "YO! YO! YO!"

That is what I would call a lack of social awareness.

I didn't get my requested wake up call at 4:45 this morning. Luckily I'd set an alarm on my phone as backup.

I have noticed that in Internet conversations (and real life) I have begun making extensive use of parenthetical statements (a la Mr. Link Can Doesn't). I've noticed people derive much pleasure (mirth) out of them and I feel that I am living a lie (by mimicking) and hate myself more.

Work has been pretty crazy for me for a few weeks, but I'm over the hump (at least for now). This is good because it has taken my stress levels down considerably, but it has also had the effect of making time seem like it has come to a screeching halt. This day is draaaaaaaaging; I can't believe it's not even noon. It doesn't help that I'm very much looking forward to the weekend and, thus, am clock watching.

You get to work at 10:00?

You get to work at 10:00 and still need a nap that makes you late?

You get to work at 10:00 and still need a nap that makes you late and manage to stay employed?

Do you live in the French part of Baltimore?

No way man don't succumb to loathing of self the parenthese belongs to no man, nor race nor creed (triumph of Renaissance humanism).

This thing pisses me off. You hear it, then you have to search the page for it to make it stop. F*ck.

Bummer, man. But play it right and the whole taking ownership and apologizing thing can get you some great make-up sex.

Now my question is, would it be a bitch move to call my landlord and complain about this? I'm the only other person in the building so if the landlord calls dirtbag neighbor, he will know who ratted him out.
Yes. Just deal with the neighbor. It's also a better strategic move. If the neighbor is too much of a jerk to respond appropriately to a conversation with you, hearing it from the landlord will just let him know that you're afraid of him, and he'll become even more of a dick.

Don't over think it. It happens when it happens. So congrats. That initial stage is pretty awesome. Unless she's not into you, in which case it's crazy.gif
