Wtf? Second power switch? What kinda monitors are you using?

Spaced out like a retard this morning and ended up going the wrong direction on the highway. This is going to cost me a solid half an hour. Dammit I'm so mad at myself.

Getting new VOIP phones at work. My current phone is from the 1980s, if I had to guess.

It's stupidly redundant. They just look like cheapo NEC monitors. Nothing special.

It wasn't even my fault either. I was working late and I saw this IT guy going around, moving monitors so he could plug this device into ethernet ports to check shit. As I was leaving I saw him move my monitor. He must have hit the switch during whatever testing he was doing. Prick.

Being an IT guy must be similar to being a grunt and running a range for pogs. I had a female once who couldn't even pull the charging handle on her rifle let alone hit anything

I actually wish my monitor had a hard power switch.

Instead it sits there draining a small amount of power for all eternity and shining a "Hey look at me, I am off" LED into my room. If it had a switch, I could just turn that shit off.

My old monitor (dell 1905fp...aka...best monitor evar!!!!) at least had three light modes: Off (no light), Standby (solid orange light), On (solid green light) and none of the lights were particularly bright.

My new monitor (korean 27" with awesome panel but poor design/build) instead has Off (red light to remind you it is off), Standby (blinking blue LED), On (solid blue LED). This wouldn't be a huge deal except the blue LED is stupidly bright and the monitor is in my bedroom...so when it blinks in the dark, you can see that shit when lying in bed and looking the other way.

I don't get the fascination with blue LEDs on everything. I know it was cool when they first figured out how to make LEDs blue...but they are all so damned piercingly bright. On my work monitors, I have drawn over the LEDs with black sharpie to suitably dim them.

In college, the power LED on my desktop was super bright (blue, of course) and lit up the whole room at night. My roommate named the computer AESOP: Azure Eye of Suffering, Oppression, and Pain.

@GF, have you started saying goodbye to your hair line.

Nope, my hairline is intact, thankfully. I don't think I'm going to suffer from MBP, based on my dad's hairline and other male relatives in the fam.

Has yours? I'm seeing a lot of dudes my age who clearly already have started balding.

I can't believe modern medicine still hasnt figured out a way to prevent and reverse it!

If you two idiots are done:

1) Your father's hairline is not a perfect predictor of your future hairline, because the gene for MBP is carried on the X chromosome. Your maternal grandfather's hairline is a better predictor.

2) MBP is caused by elevated levels of testosterone, so you've got it completely backwards.

I had two awesome face value tickets for redsox game 2 (saturday game) at fenway reserved online through their ticketing site. Then I got greedy and tried to open another window (to see my other options for tickets) and lost the reserved tickets. After that everything was sold out. facepalm.gifffffuuuu.gif

When you're doing something like that, using a separate browser can avoid the problem. I have IE, Firefox and Chrome so I can be logged into the same website three times as three different people.

Chrome supports multiple concurrent "users" with distinct cookies. I use this some of the time, however visually it's easier to figure out who I'm logged in as if I have completely separate browsers.
