Things that are pissing you off. - Page 3411

For all the big dog peeps- I used to be a big dog guy. As a kid we had a golden retriever and chocolate lab, so I always thought I wanted that size. Then I actually got a standard dachsund. Completely changed my view. he stands like 14 inches tall and acts like a fucking horse. Sweet, loving, well behaved, smart, and fearless as all hell.

plus we had a dog walker who was this crazy older latina woman (crazy dog person kind of crazy) that was pretty cheap because... well she was crazy and had issues with other people before, but she was a fucking master dog whisperer who would walk our dogs for hours at no extra charge so my wife and I were extra nice to her.

brookyn (at least the hipster areas) is a pretty nice place to have a dog in a city.

things that are pissing me off: dog edition

we took the dogs to this beautiful semi-secret off leash area right off Acadia National Park. Hundreds of acres of trails, a nice lake, and even open meadows for dogs to run their asses off.

it was just perfect...

then two guys on horses show up and my dogs start going batshit crazy and all hell breaks lose. The two guys (who looked like nice peace loving granola hippies) ended up getting pissed and my cattle dog wouldn't stop barking up the whole park with loud assed echoes probably heard miles away.

i was so pissed because it took 30min to finally catch my dogs and get them on leash (they followed the horses around barking the whole time). I was really embarrassed. I did all the puppy classes and obedience classes but they were mostly NYC-living specific... no dealing with horses on a bridle path module.

Guys on horses had a right to be pissed.

"Off-leash" and "bridal path" is a losing combination.

I had cats and dogs growing up, love them both. I'll only own cats while I'm in an apartment (which I expect to be at least another decade). If I can't just let the dog out to run around in the yard I don't want to deal with it. I've been converted to the indoor only thing for cats, though. Indoor cats have much longer life expectancy, and killing birds and other critters is a serious problem. It's not like our cat would limit herself to mice, rats and pigeons, which would be fine with me. She'd be silent death to the hummingbirds, jays and mourning doves, though: this cat has moves.

Growing up, I've always wanted a Maltese, and I still do. But lately, I've been finding myself really drawn to black Labs.

Black labs are the dog equivalent of a bangle BMW, it's A dog, you go to the breeder and say I would like 50lbs of dog.

I know a bunch of black owners and they sometimes have difficulties distinguishing their dogs from each other.

Heh, I can definitely see that being an issue.

If I ever moved out apartment and get a dog I would get a doberman, and with a bengal or savannah cat, that would be the killer combination. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I've actually warmed up to the idea of a cat, too. But I'd make sure to get a breed that's known for being affectionate.

Having a dog and cat that get along would be really cool, to your point.

Pissing me off right now: I have some errands to run but it's just too damn hot out and I don't want to sweat like a mofo. Ugh, damn this Texas heat!

I have known a few horses and none of them have displayed any of these qualities.

No I meant he acts as if he thinks he is that size. Horses are assholes.

I have a horse. His name is Charles, and he is large and strong and yet very mild mannered and polite.
